IFR and cost and future plans

Fantastic advice. So, to recap, I'm exploring local clubs to find better aircraft for better pricing. I will continue to learn and practice. I will take some time to enjjoy the PPL before starting the IFR. If I can train on a club plane, I will find a good CFI to join me. If not, I will go...

Yes indeed. Three wings was a good time, and I've enjoyed it.

Yes, this is why I'm going to start looking for proper clubs. I'd like to fly something with better avionics as well.

I'm flying out of KBDR currently, though I'm going to look at other clubs in the immediate area. I'd like to take my wife up to Martha's Vineyard or Block next. I'm also interested in the Hudson Corridor. I did that with my CFI at night... WOW. Cleared into the Bravo. I'd like to do it...

IFR and cost and future plans

The "club" is chaging me $100/month dues and then I'm being charged $212 wet for a basic Warrior II with steam. At least that's how I wasa charged during the PPL, and I'm guessing its the same now that I have the certificate. Whats the best way to find an ownership club like above?

IFR and cost and future plans

Thanks all. I will talk with my club/school some more to see what reasonable costs will be going forward. I'm not sure how they handle overnight rentals as the plans are all used for the school. Maybe I need to find a true "club" that is not a school? I'm just thinking of taking the wife to...

IFR and cost and future plans

Was actually thinking of buying something that needs a restoration, putting hours on it now, and then redoing interior, paint, panel to a more current and enjoyable platform down the road. 10K isn't the issue. I'm just thining it would be nice to have a plane that I can use on my terms. My...

IFR and cost and future plans

Dunno. This is all new. My wife would kill me if she read this post. I'd like to be all in under 300K after a neno. I could swing 100K+ in the near term. I would also use is for my personal business and the associatex tax advantages. Open to all suggestions. I'm just thinking 100 hours of...

IFR and cost and future plans

Hi All, I just passed my PPL with about 47 hours total. I plan to fly myself and friends/family for maybe 30-40 more hours and then contemplate IFR. The issue is, costs and future plans. My dry costs are 150-160/hour dry and then 70 for CFI. I would like to buy a plane. My mission would be...

    PPL in Southwestern CT

Thanks all for the information. I'll take a discovery flight at avia and compare to Three Wings. What should I be looking at with regard to the aircraft?

    PPL in Southwestern CT

Any reason to avoid training in a G1000 plane? Melman out of Westchester trains in only Cirrus... I wonder what that costs per hour wet?

    PPL in Southwestern CT

Thanks for the useful info. Short of Sikorsky, which has Three Wings (where I took the discovery flight) and Avia which seems at least from the website and on paper a bit larger scale would you recommend any other regional airports in the area? I want to be somewhat. Lose to the field for...

    PPL in Southwestern CT

Hey all, I'm new here... Looking to get my PPL, and have no clue how to go about picking a school. There are a few in Danbury and Sikorsky. I've taken a discovery flight and had a blast. I'm very eager to continue. What's the best way to vet a school and choose a CFI? How do you choose...
