First Airventure - Long journey ahead

Hey everyone, just got some time to update this. Airventure was a blast. To be clear, I've never even been to an airshow before so there are no words to describe how I felt there, it was just amazing. People were great, got to talk and meet some other aviation enthusiasts and listen to their...

First Airventure - Long journey ahead

Hey! I just bought my tickets to Airventure 2024, it will be my first Airventure and the first time I'm on U.S soil since 2014. The trip there is going to be a long one, since between layovers and flights it'll take me 30hrs to get there, but that's just part of the adventure I guess, lol...

    Expressing appreciation to ATC

I once called the tower at the airport I did my flight training to thank them for helping me and understanding about an issue I had with a CFI, they were very nice! When I got my CPL, I went to the tower (talked to their boss beforehand) and brought them some ice cream, they showed me around and...

Couple incidents while training in South America

They are a little different indeed. None of them where fuel nor carb-ice related, but surely instructors had some idea of the maintenance problems with each of the planes.

Couple incidents while training in South America

Forgot about this in my first post: I once asked about this cases to one of my instructors and what I find curious is he never mentioned any of this, but he told me that all the paperwork and investigations after declaring an emergency are a mess and could ground us for a month or more. Is it...

Couple incidents while training in South America

They definitely hid more than they should from the authorities lol. This makes a lot of sense, and I agree, there wasn't need to lie to the tower. But yes, engine problems were very common with those trainers.

Couple incidents while training in South America

Hello! Just wanted to share a couple experiences I had back when I was training to become a pilot and ask you guys, as flight instructors or students, what would you do? So, first one: It was just my 3rd flight as a student, we were practicing some "simulated emergencies" in the PA-28, when...

    Lost proficiency - Gained weight

As someone in his 20’s, I’ll do anything possible to end this decade as a (hopefully) healthy adult. This kind of problems do get harder to solve the older you are (not calling you old haha).

    Lost proficiency - Gained weight

Hey everyone! Took my time to check the forum and answer, had a lot of traveling to do the last 2 months. Some updates: I signed up at the local gym to finally start exercising. I’ll have my first appointment this Friday with a nutritionist to also start eating better. And a small extra...

    Lost proficiency - Gained weight

So, it's been 6 years since the last time I've flown an aircraft as a pilot, a student pilot, in July 2017 I had my final checkride to get my CPL/IR. I got it, not knowing I was about to spend more than half a decade waiting to fly again. Being 18 at the time it was very difficult, if not...

Saving money to convert to FAA CPL license.

Every flight school where I've asked charges anywhere from $15-25k, it almost feels like doing the whole pilot training again. But you could say is basically the same requirements, specially since Colombia follows the ICAO guidelines and tries to be as close as the FAA is too.

Saving money to convert to FAA CPL license.

Hey Piper! I might be able to apply for a green card in a couple years, as my mother is a permanent resident and her husband an american citizen. That process will take at least 2 years, in the meantime I could be saving some money and doing the license conversion (Which takes from 12-18 months)

Saving money to convert to FAA CPL license.

Hello! I'm Nicolas, a colombian commercial plane pilot. I've been holding my license since 2017 and still have found zero job opportunities in my country. (Also, haven't been able to finance any more training, it's expensive as we all know) So a couple friends have suggested me to create a...

Planning on going to the US

Hello! I'm Nic, this is my first post in this forum so if I'm posting where/what I shouldn't let me know! :) I'm a Colombian pilot (CPL-IR) who, in 5 years, never got the opportunity to fly/work as a pilot, a number of issues and the lack of pilot jobs in my country threw me away from aviation...
