    Turboprop vs piston question

Neither of the first two (aerobatics and 300HP are not my mission), but possibly RV-10. I don't hold a crystal ball on how realistic will be small turbine engines in the GA market, but I like what they do in Europe. They are trying and leap and bounds to their US competitors if you can actually...

    Turboprop vs piston question

I'd define GA as an aviation segment which allows an average private pilot enjoy the flying experience w/o breaking his wallet or trading off his/her kidney for it. Private and recreational transport - in line with ICAO definition. I can't find Glasairs, Lancairs easily - they are out of...

    Turboprop vs piston question

More like "they built an more or less efficient heat exchanger on top of a turbine engine". Not entirely novel idea, but we'll see how this works. What bothers me is there is nothing like this in US. And not only engines, look at airframes. Darkaero is the only recent (ugly) novelty compare to...

    Turboprop vs piston question

Things are not as bad for turbines on small planes as we used to think. Apparently the competition is heating up in this segment. Heron Engines (11g/hr fuel consumption) demoed their engine on Bristel: https://www.heronengines.com/ Turbotech demoed their engine on VL3...

    I’m calling the peak

Sure, but I saw 30-40% off deflation for houses after housing bubble #1 did burst. Things can go similar or worse route this time. Another indicator (at least for me) I have been approached few times already by sellers with hints and desire to negotiate.

    Damage from Ingested Cowl Plugs?

I'd verify my renter agreement has liability provision on intentional or unintentional damage. Just like cars we rent. And make sure renter fully understands it.

    I’m calling the peak

Disagree with the idea that prices will stay high because of inflation. Inflation destroys purchasing power and therefore demand. To what extent - we'll learn as we go through this Fed induced speculative mania. As for where the prices are going, this might shed some light...

@ktup-flyer are you on Android? If so, what app do you use?

    Do not buy Garmin GDL-50

I have similar experience with my GDL-50, purchased in May 2022. The unit was staying fully charged and was brought up for today's flight. I could pair it with the tablet, but it doesn't connect in Connex. Now new indications on the leds, just blue led seems to go off quicker than before. 5...

    STRUGGLING #2

@Salty "it’s a resignation attitude because you’re expecting someone else to fix a problem that’s yours to fix." If you define a problem for me without understanding the root cause of it or interpreting in some wired ways 5 dangerous attitudes I would say get back and study them again. Let's...

    STRUGGLING #2

Hi All, QU on my situation: Fast forward 3+ months and I am a newly minted pilot with 120 hours so far! Had my checkride this past Tuesday and passed it. To all of you - THANK YOU! I made a right decision to share my story, asking for an opinion here what to do next. Switching schools was a way...

    Fair point, thank you!

    STRUGGLING #2

Yes, no private yet after 80 hours. But can you expand your thought about this being a reason for the instructor's behavior? I can't connect the dots here.

    STRUGGLING #2

I disagree with your assessment about passive approach. It can't be more active when someone says: "I want to fly every day", don't you think? "hazardous attitude of resignation". Where exactly do you see a resignation here and what is so drastic there about changing the school, which saw most...

    STRUGGLING #2

Thanks all for the replies. I am currently pursuing two options: an independent CFI and another flying school/club. Will keep posting. Clear skies.

    STRUGGLING #2

I live in US for last 23 years. It's not a question to relocate, rather to find a great school or instructor. As I said I can make an arrangement for training in another place.

    STRUGGLING #2

Basically I gave the CFI complete freedom to book my training: 7-11am on workdays, any time on weekends. If this helps. Following the CFI would require a new TSA application for the new school, and back then I was not expecting to see delays in the training process.

    STRUGGLING

Hi @April Evans, my solution to the same issue was installing my own simulator stack (when I earn enough points I'd post the image). Decent multi-core desktop, NVIDIA RTX GPU, plenty of memory, control/radio/ap panels, rudder pedals and a yoke, and MSFS 2020 and/or XPlane. Microsoft FS has...

    STRUGGLING #2

I never though you can't until I heard this myself. I had even more interesting experience with this CFI: when we were on a crosswind leg he saw the aircraft some 2500' above the pattern, panicked, grabbed the controls and started climbing to 2000' on the downwind leg. Totally wrong response and...
