What plane would you buy in my situation?

I love my 182F and have the panel exactly how I want it. I just wish I could see 140-145 knots. It's 130 knots all day for me. I could probably add a few with wheel pants, but I haven't done it yet. I've thought about the FAT supercharger, but I think that has issues of it's own. I wish there...

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

I flew 350 miles each way from Phoenix to north of LA over the past few days. I picked up flight following within 5 miles of my departure airport and held it until getting transferred to tower each direction. I received a few altitude restrictions (7500 instead of my requested 9500) and a few...

Good place to find quotes on insurance before deciding on a plane?

I agree, Parker has been great so far.

    New paint scheme - opinions

Tail on the second, forward of the tail on the first. My opinion, that and $6 will get you a coffee these days.

    Marker beacon not working

My panel is getting worked on. I have another thread here on it. But today my A&P said the marker beacon was having issues. It's a PS Engineering PMA6000B with the optional marker beacon. He said the Middle and Outer beacons are working fine, but the inner maker isn't working. Any suggestions on...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

I'm sure we could have used a larger font, but I'm pretty happy with the font size in person. While this was happening the interior was out. I started to go down the path of replacing interior parts as well. But the costs and time away from the airplane kept adding up. I could have kept...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

For anyone curious. Used GTN750 (with warranty from Sarasota avionics), Dynon Autopilot, new panel, trade GNC355 for GPS175( credit applied to panel), associated hardware (gps antennae, arinc module, wiring, connectors, etc), new vertical Dynon comm/Knob panel) My mechanic is doing the work...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

BTW, definitely don't make the mistake of adding up all of the costs.

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

Well, we're finally nearing the end of this upgrade, hopefully. One change that was made. The GNC355 was replaced by a new GPS175. So I lost a comm radio, which I didn't have an input for on my audio panel anyway. I still have 2 comms, GTN750 and Dynon comm. This was a net positive $$ change for...

Is it possible to manually trip the flush circuit breakers?

    Thanks, that's good feedback.

Is it possible to manually trip the flush circuit breakers?

I'm having panel work done on my 182. One of the items was moving from the flush mount to the pullable circuit breakers for this exact reason. I bought some used Klixon for like $10 each and since the panel is apart and being newly cut there was no additional installation charges. If you go...

iPad choices, small single engine GA

What kind of airplane? What kind of panel? I have both an ipad mini and an ipad pro. The pro is mounted on the panel and the mini is in the pilot side window. I fly a 182 with a Dynon/Garmin panel. The IPAD pro stays on the moving map showing traffic and weather from my Dynon HDX. I think it's...

    Garmin or Avidyne with Dynon

Good news, they just released the D30. Looks much better than the D10. https://www.dynoncertified.com/standby-flight-display.php

Help me decide on a 182.

All things being equal, is +600hr smoh worth 51k? Take OH cost and divide by tbo and multiply by 600. If it's less than 51k then there's an answer. But, is condition really the same? Avionics the same? Location the same (one on the coast vs Arizona)? History the same?

Help me decide on a 182.

With the 6 pack plane a couple of GI275 gets you into the glass game relatively inexpensively. I would personally look at what would be required to get rid of any vacuum system in the 6 pack plane and work towards that. But, truthfully I've never owned a plane with a vacuum system to know how...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

So here's the current plan. Retain Dynon Comm radio (COM1). The integration with the HDX10 is just too handy to give up Install GTN750 (COM2) Retain GNC355 (COM not connected) I could sell, but a GPS 175 is roughly the same cost as I would get out of my 355. We'll look at wiring the 355 COM...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

Maybe it was mentioned earlier, but my PMA6000b has a slide in replacement PMA7000M-BT. This gives me 3 COM inputs and bluetooth built in. Install is simply a screw slide the old one out and slide the new one in. Obviously the COM3 would need to be wired as well, but seems pretty low effort. I...

    Cessna 182 Avionics upgrade

Yes, I agree about the Dynon COM. I think I'm going to go with GTN COM1 and GNC COM2 and get rid of the Dynon COM. Otherwise I think I would have to purchase a new vertical Dynon COM due to layout, which isn't the end of the world, but I would end up with 3 COM radios and only 2 COM on my audio...
