    King KT76A + Narco AR-850 Encoder - Mode C Altitude Glitching

I know these Narcos are indeed junk. I'm not familiar with the Trans-cal. Reliable? Will it interface with the KT-76A easily?

    King KT76A + Narco AR-850 Encoder - Mode C Altitude Glitching

Hi everyone, We had this same issue a few years ago and ended up swapping out both the encoder and transponder. We did ourselves a disservice not narrowing down which part exactly was the culprit. I'm thinking the encoder should be responsible. Does anyone think there's a scenario where the...

    Alternatives to Plexus?

Hmm really? Any issues with excessive residue or flying through light precipitation? Apply it and wipe it just like Pledge?

    Alternatives to Plexus?

I'm late to the party. My 2 cans are finally running on fumes, and to my wonderful surprise I see this is now out of stock everywhere. What are some good alternatives before I attempt Pledge on the windshield?

    Garmin GNS530 - sensitive squelch

Has anyone ever experienced a radio where it constantly goes in and out of squelch and you can see the RX flashing on and off? It's like the squelch is too sensitive and distance comms are breaking it. You switch to another channel, and it stops. We had a shop put it on the bench and adjust...

How do you mitigate the risks of mechanic error?

Slowly but surely learn more and more about the inner workings of your plane. Learn how to change your own oil. There's tremendous value in removing the cowling and inspecting the entire engine bay while you save yourself $250 doing it yourself.

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

I know. Hard lesson learned. Need to thoroughly inspect things like this before we fly away. He just didn't notice it.

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

Shop purchased the windshield. They received it. We never saw it until it was installed.

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

Update: Sadly, this will go nowhere. The shop shrugs it off like they did no wrong. The manufacturer hasn't even responded to concerns in over a week. Lesson learned unfortunately. The funny thing is that molding defect up high by the vent doesn't bother me as much as the left curve which...

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

Sending in pics and waiting for feedback. Honestly, I don't expect much. It's already installed. I'm not really excited about the fact of having to pay labor to replace it, even if the window was not molded correctly. The manufacturer would have to provide a new windshield and cover labor...

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

Yeah as long as it isn't a weakened point on the window that may crack early, then I agree it's not worth the $$ and effort.

New Windshield - appears to be a defect

Just got a new windshield installed in a 182. I finally had a chance to see it, since my partner flew it home when it was done. I noticed what looks like a defect in the windshield right near the pilot's overhead air vent. Can anyone shed some light on this? It looks like an obvious defect...

Can anyone help me find the copper crush gaskets for a 182H oil filter?

I'm trying to find the exact gaskets I need. I'm on various sites looking at AN900, but I can't find my exact sizes for the large gasket for where the filter screws in to the block and the small gasket for the bolt that is used to reassemble the entire filter screen. (Bonus question if anybody...

Lost a cowl flap on a 182. Tips to prevent this in the future?

Sadly lost one flying recently. She’s a 65 H model and never even considered this possibility. Luckily I found a replacement and the repair seems simple enough. I was horrified thinking I’d find damage somewhere, but it looks like the hinge came loose and away she went. Cowl flap inspections...
