How to enter a holding pattern?

I get it, now, BTW. Funny how something so seemingly simple gets confusing... thanks for the exercise.

How to enter a holding pattern?

I think I just heard a click...That does make sense. I would miss that question in my practice tests and just move on after staring at it a while. "Hold Northwest" means the direction my propeller (no wind) will be pointing when I am at the fix.

Personal Locator Beacon - Still Relevant?

I just tried the Emergency SOS Demo on my wife's iPhone 14. It was kind of hard to find. But is under Emergency SOS or something. It seems to work. Very cool. That may be the only reason I have found yet to switch from Android, hah.

Team effort or lone wolf training?

I'm working on the rating in my own plane. I haven't done safety pilot flying yet. I suppose I will, but I don't mind paying the ii to be there. He has very good insight. Most of our flights have been on a filed IFR plan. We have done a couple flights in very "real" actual as well. Valuable...

Personal Locator Beacon - Still Relevant?

I bought an ACR. Pretty cheap, lite, small, no subscription, locates you when you activate. Seems a good thing to do.

    So I bought a C182 - what now?

What he said. Go fly. One thing I found different with ownership than renting is the weather. When I rented I would only go on nice days. Now I will fly in less than stellar weather. It has made me understand weather better as well as go-no-go decisions. And since I 'travel' in it. I have...

    1090 ADS-B

At the risk of going off topic... Does that mean I can fly my 978 mhz Uat equipped (not 1090) airplane in Canada as long as I stay below 12,500?

    Mid-air, KMEV Minden-Tahoe

There is a balance on ADSB visibility. My last plane, Zenith, my wife and friends liked tracking me. It showed up everywhere. My new to me Sportsman was owned be a public figure, so he locked down visibility of ADSB as much as he could. It is hard to find. ADSB Exchange will show it, mostly...

    Hypothetical question for dr bruce

I suspect the answer would be, 'It is up to the airman to protect his pee.'

Jump starting a 'plane with a battery pack

I have an Earth X cable under the dash. Then a small lithium jump pack that will connect to the cable. I once jumped my Sportsman with it after a little too much time using the avionics on the ground. It allowed me to start it then remove the jump pack without getting out of my seat. Pretty...

    ECHOUAT mandatory service bulletin

As far as plumbing it into the static system. The EcholAlt installation instructions say this. "Like skyBeacon and tailBeacon, echoALT continuously calibrates to the aircraft transponder’s altitude encoder, therefore, echoALT does not require bi-annual correspondence checks." I suspect it...

    ECHOUAT mandatory service bulletin

Is there a reason why some are plumbing it into the static system? I realize it is easy and set up for it. But the directions don't require it. I haven't installed mine just yet.
