Long Cross country 51.8nm straight line without landing at airport?

Bummer for the OP that (apparently) this flight won't count due to the diversion, I can sympathize. But, CFIs, how about assigning students an actual LONG cross country? I'm not talking about thousands of miles, but IMHO, if you have to count tenths of miles to assure the trip fulfills...

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

Was this an older (early) airframe? I believe early model Cessna twins had a simpler pressurization control, that didn't 'engage' until 8000 feet, or would be totally 'open' descending through 8000.

Team effort or lone wolf training?

Great advice all above. I'd mention one caveat to the "get as much actual." Totally valid point, and usually good advice, however, if you're in the Rockies, and your training aircraft is a 172 or such, there simply may not be any weather conditions (until next May or June!) that would be...

Is it normal for a student pilot to feel sad like this?

It's hard to assess your (or anyone's) progress without flying with you, but it doesn't sound like you're way out of the norm for time to solo. Every student usually hits different plateaus during training, and pre-solo is one of those places. You end up going around the pattern just to...

Finally stopped thinking - bought my first plane!

BAS has roof mounted inertial reels, Alpha has sidepost mounted, and there's ABI with different options. Probably other providers available as well. P.S. If not already done, join ABS. And, start surfing Beechtalk (you don't have to leave POA!)

Finally stopped thinking - bought my first plane!

Congrats! If not already equipped, shoulder harnesses should be top priority (and considered part of your seat mod.).

    Fluctuating altimeter on takeoff

Start simple. I don't recall if the 206 has static line drains, open those and check for moisture. Also, try a takeoff with alternate static open just to see if that eliminates the effect.

Navigating to a DME via Garmin when Enroute

Don't know about the 480 specifically. Are these DME fixes the same all the time (I'd guess that would be the case), and if so, then make up names and enter the fixes as user waypoints?

FAA Drops Expiration Date from CFI

And, I wonder: now there's the 3-month pre- renewal window for completing a FIRC. What happens to that if your currency date is before your (old) expiration date? (so many questions).

    Instrument training…

Or use a few of the $100 bills from the stack that all of us pilots carry.

    Baron 58P

As Anthem mentioned, I’d strongly recommend getting your initial multi rating in something other than your P Baron (assuming you end up owning!). A school with a Baron would of course be better than some other twin, but the main reason being, engine-out training can be kind of hard on turbo...
