    A REAL 6 seater

That clam door or door in rear (P206/205) means no gymnastics required unless you're talking people over 6' or big, chunky in the back. If you want to talk gymnastics, Aztec takes the cake. It will hold 6 fat people no problem and still have load to spare. One door, though.

Step 1 in modernizing my panel

I have a Lynx but I got the one thing that the Garmin 375 doesn't have, the active traffic. Damn thing saved my life once. Had some jet without ADS-B, not talking to ATC, come plowing up my rear while descending through my flight path. If it wasn't picked up by that, I'd never have had the time...

Do engine STCs help or hurt resale value?

The STC only helps if it's a well know, well trusted source. A Franklin is cheaper for a reason. I wouldn't buy a plane with one. A 182 with a monster Continental? Hell yeah...

NOOB needing advice on a from-scratch upgrade

Keep it VFR. AV-30 or Aspen E5 plus GTX-375. If you really need engine monitor add in a non-primary 3" like a JPI-730. Fly it for a while like that and then figure out what you're missing. You can still do fogle work in it. You can still do a bunch if IFR training like that. You can't unspent...

    New Transponder - Diversity?

Love my NGT-9000+. I get traffic coverage even when I don't have ads-b reception (happens occasionally.) I paid to get thr duper duper traffic but the jet we dodged because he/she was ignoring ATC instructions already "paid" for the extra expense. I'd love to know what the RA write up for that...

Why are Rotax engines limited to 150/160hp?

UL power has a 200hp engine. I don’t see it threatening Rotax is terms of market share or sales. Doesn't seem like they have much pressure to keep going up another few hp.

First plane for family of 5

@JBray also think of insurance costs. It would cost me $1600/yr for a 182 but the lowest quote on a 210 was $8k/yr. I was told that'd drop $1-2k once I hit 100hr time in type. Twins are even higher. The 6 seats on my 205 costs $1k more than a 182 and they're practically the same darn plane...

First plane for family of 5

I own a C205 because I needed 5 seats. The Cherokee 6/260 is probably a sweet spot for you (and cheaper than my 60s era plane.) If not that,, then you pay the Cessna surtax. Don't do retract, it just isn't worth it. Don't do twin, it really isn't worth it at your experience level.

Road Bump in Buying a Plane - No Place to Put It

I've been waiting on a hangar for 5 years now but at least I got a tir down. If there weren't any tie downs I'd shoot somebody. How does the supply demand price curve "work" if there ain't some availability? God bless then for fighting the economics of it but ...yeesh. None?!

Anyone here involved in running an airport?

It would,, wouldn't it.. The problem is the cost of keeping the IFR approaches, stashing away enough for the runway replacement, and other such large upcoming bills. Kinda like the engine replacement and cost/hr of a twin.

Anyone here involved in running an airport?

There's one by me for $4M claiming $40k/month in revenue. Looking at it I still can't figure put how to make the numbers work.

Dual G5's vs Aspen Evolution E5 vs Dual GI 275

Your numbers are for the stock purchase. Installation of the HSI is much more. That GI-275 combo near me will sit you back $15-20k all considered. The Aspen will probably be much more competitive price wise. I installed an Aspen 2000 combo on my plane and got most unlocks included with a summer...

    Cayla Leaving AOPA

Well... that's 2 years of flying a 170 around the country. What, exactly, is going to beat that in the following 2 years. Might as well quit while you're ahead.

    172 seats

Having sat in the early cessna seats vs the newer adjustable, I'd take the early ones. The lack if movement is a con but they are infinitely more comfortable on a skinny butt than any other aircraft I've sat in. That's a serious pro. To me, they add the one speed mod you just can't beat; an...

Flying to New-York tie down informations

N07 is a good little airport (I learned to fly there) but if you need to depart, MMU or CDK with their 2 runways would serve you better. Also, both have reasonable access to public transit.

    Cessna 182P - Pponk my O-470 or IO550?

182, high DA? More hp is the answer but what you really want is more hp at altitude. For that you need a turbo (no STC for that) or a supercharger (these are 20k. It eats 3-5hp but you can fly up to 8k DA without a loss of power. Pretty sweet and is compatible with a PPonk. I'd do it to my own...
