T&G more risky than Stop and Go?

Haha thats true. Anti-climactic for those on the ground sure, Im sure the student is still gripping that yoke like it was the last thing they would ever do. :D

T&G more risky than Stop and Go?

I Agree with this. On my first solo I did taxibacks, after that I was allowed to do touch and go's. It would be like teaching a student to start an engine right after a simulated engine failure in a multi. When an engine failure actually occurs the student will go by muscle memory which means...

    LOM/MM DME GPS

For things like DME arcs for example, I have always used the nearest VOR page for DME, I have also loaded in the ILS into the GPS as a point and used that for DME. Its worth noting that I have two 430's in the plane so one is used to shoot the approach and the other is used for DME.

ADS-B "Uplink" (FIS-B) coverage by altitude

I think this is a great example of how you have to rely on an actual brief and look outside the plane. I love my stratus but it's not perfect.

My CFII Failed 4 Check Rides... Should I get a new one?

    1. You can't learn from someone you don't respect and trust. That is one of the main FOI's that all instructors learn. As a student you must be able to rely on your CFI. 2. No CFI/II is perfect, I know plenty of CFI's that have to brush up on something before they teach it, myself included. 3...

Today was my second time in the left seat

That's awesome man! I train out of KGKY in Arlington TX! As you gain experience things will get easier and you won't feel so overwhelmed. Things will become more like second nature. The 172 is a great plane to learn in. It took me forever to be good on the radio and even today there was a call...

do you sign student pilot license?

I ended up getting through my private checkride and then some before I realized I didn't sign my medical.... I think it the same as signing the medical. You are basically verifying that all information is correct and not fraudulent by signing? i could be totally off... I do know that the FSDO...

    KTRK

I agree, unfortunately every year we have had accidents at those airports related to density altitude.

    Feds Capitulate to Santa Monica

You're right. I made that statement off of false information. What you overhear isn't always factual. :)

Sectional use on PP oral & practical

My school required I use paper charts for my PPL checkride. That was a school policy not up to the DPE. The DPE was fine with an ipad, but said he would fail it at some point. The point was that we needed to be comfortable with using paper in the event something did happen with the ipad(s).

    KTRK

Truckee Airport is a bit dangerous at times to get to, however they have an awesome restaurant on field called Red Truck. Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area is also beautiful year round. Just make sure you are familiar with density altitude and mountain flying. KTRK is currently untowered so...
