french fries (N/A, for potato's sake)

We were working at various sites for OG&E long years ago and found a steak place that made their own fries. The fries were good, but the fried potato skins were way better. They would thick (1/8" to 1/4" or so...) slice the skins off and fry those skins and season them a little...wow....

    [NA] Truck tire failure

Looks like it had a curb scrub at some point prior to the failure. May have been hard enough to delam part of the sidewall and allow it to separate and partially inflated it. The center of the tire shows excessive wear on the one edge, but it didn't get that in just a few miles.

Is it normal for a student pilot to feel sad like this?

I'll offer this...Stop flying for a couple of weeks and concentrate on knocking out ground school and your written. Then get back in the air, at least a couple of times a week and you will see a huge progression in your skills. I had done a few hours in the air before I ended moving and didn't...

    Restaurant Feedback

Be factual, with very little emotions in the wording. We had a very nasty experience with a medium sized chain restaurant one time. Really soured us on going there. I wrote a long, but factual letter to client relations at corporate, detailing what went on and the response we got from the staff...

I have tasted speed, and I like it

Then there's the other extreme...Oliver Farms in north Fort Worth to Carswell AFB....2 hours 40 minutes flight time....Fi-156 and horrendous headwinds...

GRYDER WINS - $1.2M Defamation Case Reversed

He did a hatchet job on someone, using information that was known to be incorrect and spewed it all over the net via his channel. When he was sued over it, he failed to defend his actions and lost the original suit. On his appeal, the loss on the original suit was vacated and he will now have to...

Civilian Pilot Training Program (1938-44) question.

Jack: You need to order the history card from Maxwell AFB or NASM on the airframe. It should have additional data along with the impression information.

Civilian Pilot Training Program (1938-44) question.

Jack: Do you have both the military history card and the FAA file on your aircraft? According to Al Adcock's book, there was only 1 J model in the system, which should be your airframe.

GRYDER WINS - $1.2M Defamation Case Reversed

If I read the appeals court document correctly, due to bad wording on the request for alternative service, the summary judgement was reversed. Means he has to go to trial now. SH: Use his name and judgement appeal in the search terms. Should come up with the appeals court order issued on the...

    Growler Down

The survival kits have beacons in them that are activated upon separation. If they impacted with no ejection, only the airframe pinger would activate, and I think only if it gets wet.

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

Tilt wall panels are only connected to the slab and to the roof trusses. The only thing between panels is a caulking material. Occasionally, some designs have welded tie bars between panels, but I've only seen those on multifloor buildings.

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

Problem with tilt wall is that it's not designed for a pitched roof, but rather a flat roof. We've had almost 12 million square feet of warehouse space go up within 5 miles of me in the last two years or so, and it's all tilt wall and flat roof. I also haven't seen a joist longer than about 42...

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

Most of the time, poured walls are cheaper, but other times they aren't. We poured a tower base and about 100 feet of access road and a parking pad that would have been cheaper to have a parade of mix on site trucks doing the pour, but we were forced to use mix trucks instead. Problem was they...

    Totally random trivia…

That's an easy one...They only have to manufacture one version of the keypad system. Doesn't matter what type of location it's going to be used in..walk up, drive up or in store, all the same keypad. Same reason for the plug for audio headsets and the amplifier.

Had to reschedule my private checkride for an hour later than originally, as my hours in my log book didn't add up correctly...Had to go fly .3 to get the 40 hours total. But the pressing question, is "Why does sour cream have an expiration date"?
