    Multi-engine Vmc vs. increased horsepower

Thanks all for the info! I'll see if I can read through the AFM next time I take a flight in the plane and have some time to kill. It will be interesting to see if the STC incorporates both the engine modification as well as VGs and rudder adjustments. I assume that info would be in the STC's...

    Multi-engine Vmc vs. increased horsepower

I agree. I did some poking around on the web and couldn't find it. Do you know if those are publicly available?

    Multi-engine Vmc vs. increased horsepower

Hello, First, I am not a multi-engine pilot. But, I've been flying with a buddy in his Cessna 340A with the RAM STCed engines. The STC increases the horsepower from 310 to 335, I believe. If an engine fails, and the remaining engine has more power than the plane was originally designed, would...

    Thanks Larry! I appreciate it.

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

    It is a 1979 340A model.

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

Sorry. I don't fly pressurized aircraft and my terminology is likely off. But, if the cabin altitude is decreasing, I consider that change moving in the negative or descending direction.

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

My apologies. Perhaps since the needle swung all the way around, it was pegged but I could not see if to which extreme it was pegged.

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

Yes. I saw the cabin rate of climb pegged on the negative side of the gauge. This occurred during the early part of the descent and when he reduced power to idle, iirc.

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

That makes sense. Thanks! As the discomfort level was impressive, I pointed to the cabin pressure gauge and he did bring power back in a touch which slowed the rate of depressurization to an acceptable level. For a normal descent (without an obstacle in the way), I would expect to begin...

    Cessna 340A pressurization question

I was recently a passenger in a Cessna 340 owned by a buddy of mine. We were at 16,500'. Due to a 6,500' hill between us and the destination, we needed to make a steep descent as we approached and once we passed the hill. When he pulled the power back to a pretty low setting, the cabin...

North Las Vegas (KVGT) Pilots - Local knowledge needed

Hello Howard! If you want to let Bill have some real fun, he would love to do a couple touch and goes in your work plane. What is it now, a PC-12 or something?

North Las Vegas (KVGT) Pilots - Local knowledge needed

Thanks Gang! I am thinking Perkins or Mesquite will be in order. If not, is much pattern work done at North Vegas or does it cause issues with the regular traffic?

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

I get what you are saying and understand. But, pushing the OBS is my go-to in situations where I am in a hold, done holding, and want the box to sequence to the next fix on the approach after the holding fix. Activating VTF will turn on the glideslope as you stated. But, the glideslope will...

North Las Vegas (KVGT) Pilots - Local knowledge needed

Howdy, My retired A&P lives near North Vegas Airport and is turning 80 years old this month. He called me and asked for a birthday gift. He wants to fly a plane again. Being he was a great help to me through the years, I am happy to oblige. He hasn't flown since he sold his Cherokee 235...

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

You can ask ATC for longer holding legs too.

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

Yes, OBS needs to be pushed prior to reaching JLI. The waypoint sequencing must be suspended before reaching JLI or the next waypoint (FEXDE) will become the active waypoint.

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

Thanks. That's what I tried but it didn't allow me to remain in the hold. It had me turn back to fly directly over the VOR again and with a suggested pattern entry. I was hoping to get the holding racetrack as an active leg. Perhaps I wasn't in a location relative to the holding pattern...

GNS430W and 530W - Failing to suspend when in a hold... how to fix the result

Hello, A buddy of mine is working on his IR. His plane is equipped with a Garmin GNS430W. While the goal is to prevent a certain problem from occurring, I know (from personal experience) that it likely will occur. Knowing how to fix the pilot's error is the topic here. Let's say you are...
