    2023 NOTAM

This will be my first time flying in since 2019. How long did it take for the N40 to fill up last year?

    2023 NOTAM

I'm curious as well. I parked in Vintage last time I was there which wasn't too far North of the South 40, but in a slightly newer plane this year and hope I can park in the N40 (probably saturday arrival around noon). I think the convenience of having some restaurants and Target and...

Daily weather roundup leading up to AirVenture

Thanks for this. I'm looking to fly up on Friday or Saturday and the forecast for the southeast isn't looking ideal. Will be watching the daily updates.

Holy Crap, my house is in ForeFlight

I would guess that it wouldn’t be too difficult to have a machine learning computer vision algorithm generate the basic map with water shown and houses from satellite data. Merging that with the FAA data might be a bit tougher though.

    CFI headwind mins

but sometimes…. It is fun to fly at 0kts! Just need to get some people on the ground to look up and see the airplane “floating”

Sirrus SR-22 Parachute Saves 6 (video)

I’ve never flown in a cirrus but I think the newer ones have 5 seats/seatbelts but the 5th seat is mostly meant for kids. 3 days old is really young but I suppose here in the US we have the infant in arms rule until 2 years old, not sure if it applies to GA or not though.

    Tach and hobbs

Even without a brake check the airplane is moving. The propeller is moving through the air and the whole plane is making tiny movements called vibrations from its own power. Sure this is probably not in line with the intent of the regs, but as soon as the engine starts part of the plane is moving.

    Youtube Video Question

First, look at this taxi diagram of ARR. https://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/2104/05103AD.PDF I have not watched the whole video, but taxiing to 27 would be much quicker than taxiing to runway 15 which is probably the main reason. Also winds were a crosswind of 9G15 from 27 which is well within the...

    Piper / PA-28RT-201T crash 4/20/2021 Preliminary

Yes, you are correct. It is also illegal to fly in IMC while VFR. Unfortunately not all follow the rules.

    Oshkosh 2021 Notam - Airventure

do you keep your slot even if VMC? I reserved a slot in 2019, but gave it up when the weather forecast improved. I landed on Saturday before the show about 20 minutes before they shut everything down and the storms rolled in.

    Things Learned About Flight School

Hobbs or Tach time and rates.... I did my PPL through a school, but I’ve had great luck finding flying clubs since then. If I could go back I would have searched harder for a club to start with.

    Oshkosh 2021 Notam - Airventure

One of these days I’ll be brave enough to fly the club 65hp Champ to OSH. 2019 was my first time flying in and it was in a 182. I think I’ll be in a 172 this year. Maybe in a few years I’ll take the slow plane. What is the cruise speed in your plane?

The biggest difference I see from 2019 is the addition of transitions to RIPON.

Why are these planes still using toxic fuel?

Ok this is interesting too. From https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6213a3.htm The geometric mean (GM) BLLs (Blood Lead Levels) for children aged 1–5 years and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) also were calculated. National estimates of the GM BLL for children aged 1–5 years declined...

Why are these planes still using toxic fuel?

Thanks, In the categorical distance specification, compared with the reference category (> 2,000 m from an airport), children living within 500 m of an airport had blood lead levels that were, on average, 4.4% higher Based on the geospatial and statistical analysis presented above, lead from...
