    NA - Permanent Christmas Lights

People really have too much time and/or money on their hands. Me? I roll old school and put up a few strings of C9 incandescents, just like grandma used to do.

I used to where everything went on the card, had tests on the subject. Used to be pretty good at JCL, and was pretty knowledgeable on RACF as well. Those weren’t the days…

Southwest Airliner Hit by Gunfire in Dallas 11/15/24

It’s the learning institutions themselves who are abusing the system. They’ve come to realize that students and families will take out a loan for whatever it costs to go to the school of their choice. IMHO that’s the biggest reason tuition has far outpaces inflation and cost of living. They know...

Southwest Airliner Hit by Gunfire in Dallas 11/15/24

Anytime we had new hires or new interns, we had an indoctrination and training week where the new hires learned more about what we do, how we operate, and what the different departments and manufacturing areas do and how they interact. I was usually elected to do a presentation for our...

Tin can phone, had a lot of fun as kids using cans or dixie cups and strings to make phones. Now kids text ‍ Little did I know that later in life I’d again use sound powered phones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_can_telephone

Yeah, penny candy! We’d visit our grandmother and she’d give us each a quarter and we’d walk down the road to the country store. Imagine, 25 pieces of candy for a quarter, those were the days!

Sounds luxurious. In my first programming courses we used IBM keypunch machines, then ran the deck through the card hopper. Then one huddled around the printer to see what the answer was after your job queued up, ran, and printed. If you dropped your card deck, you were not a happy camper...

Long before string trimmers were common, mom had one of thse and would send us outside to trim the grass along the sidewalk, driveway, and street. It took forever, on your hands and knees trimming. This lady is smiling, probably because she just started. Give it a few hours, that smile will...

Under dash stuff. Had a used old Dodge pickup in highschool. FM converter and Radio Shack cassette player mounted under the dash, I couldn’t afford to replace the AM radio with a real head unit.

    Thank You for Your Service

Don’t have anything left from my service days except for my VIC which I occasionally use for discounts. I’ve never been a look back person.

Gear up landing, when does the FAA get involved?

Why in the world would the police be involved in a gear up? Some stole the landing gear? Or maybe the landing gear switch?

FFS. I need a new hobby.

This thread is starting to give me pause. Now when I have work done I will always wonder, did the A/P and/or his assistants REALLY verify that the correct parts were installed? Did they REALLY RTFM, the ADs, and the SBs? Is the job REALLY done correctly? I my entire life have done all of the...

    Best grandfather/grandpa

Dad’s dad passed when I was very young, have a small recollection of him, but not much. Mom’s dad was an ornery underachiever. Lots of good jokes and stories, but not much substance.
