    Trade for CH 601 XL-B??

I have owned my '66 Mooney M20F for over 10 years now and I'm seriously considering something else. These are the reasons compelling me- I never needed four seats and honestly I don't really need two seats. Even though it is in good shape and has modernized avionics, the Mooney is pretty old...

Does anyone have any experience with the KIS TR-1?

This one is for sale and it's intriguing, but I know nothing about them. https://www.barnstormers.com/classified-1572552-2002-KIS-TR-1-composite.html

    Wheel bearing cup

Has anyone changed their wheel bearing cups? One of my nose wheel bearing cups appears to have a crack in it. It needs to be changed. I have Cleveland wheels.

    Bogus invoice from KSMO

Anybody else ever get an invoice for a landing at Santa Monica that they never made? I just received an invoice from Vector Airport Systems claiming that my airplane made a landing at KSMO on 1/7/20 and the reality is, my airplane has never been to that airport in the last 10 1/2 years I've...

Move over Icon, there's a new toy in town-

Supposedly meets part 103 ultralight regs, so no medical, or pilot's license needed. Disassembles for transport, can float, little to no training required as it has loads of auto controls just like all the camera drones do, so you can take off, fly, hover and land as a novice. Lots of redundant...

    My Vans RV conundrum.

I have been thinking seriously about trading my Mooney for a Vans RV-9/A. It better fits my mission which is mostly me flying around by myself in good weather with no particular place I need to go. I think it would save me a bit of money in fuel burn, replacement parts and upgrades and it would...

    Would you include this woman?

If you were putting on an event to honor the achievements of women in aviation, would you include Hanna Reisch? She was quite a pioneer and skilled pilot back in her day with an impressive list of accomplishments. There's only one problem... The Canadians said "No way! eh..." What would...

So we thought it was just drones we had to worry about...

How about YouTubers at 38,000 ft? Is this safe? Is it worth the risk? Does anybody care? https://petapixel.com/2017/06/09/gopro-weather-balloon-captures-airliner-flyby-38000-feet/

    Why not foam?

Airplanes often fly distances over water. Airplanes sometimes lose engine power over water and end up in the water. There they usually sink, but airplanes are full of empty cavities that go unused. Plastic foam is very light. Why not fill those cavities with foam so the plane could turn into a...

    Changes to SFO Class Bravo

I was just notified that there are to be meetings open to the public to discuss proposed changes to the SFO Class Bravo airspace. Any changes I have assume is to expand the Bravo. The meetings are on January 30th in Burlingame, January 31st in San Jose and February 1st in Oakland. I have no...

    PIREPs on Garmin AoA equipment?

I am in annual right now and considering installing an AoA indicator. I was leaning towards the Alpha Systems one, but their prices have gone up. The newly released Garmin one seems pretty similar and about $500 less. Anybody have one?

Real world numbers for a Vans RV-9

I'm hoping to get responses from actual RV-9 owners on the real world numbers for that plane. Both performance numbers and ownership costs. I am toying with the idea of selling my Mooney and buying experimental. At this point, the Vans line of aircraft are the only ones that make sense for me...

I wonder if Burt Rutan knew about this back when...

he was designing the Vari-EZ? The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-8 Utka (Duck) First flew in 1945 as a liaison / utility airplane and to test the canard concept. Similar specs as Rutan's, but not in performance! However it is reported that the test pilots and other pilots loved flying it and it had...

Anybody ever make money with a lease back??

I know it's generally regarded as a losing proposition, but is it always true? Let's say you invested in a simple basic trainer with the only purpose to put it on the flight line at a busy flight school, has anybody done this and actually came out ahead in the end? Just wondering if there is...

Anybody ever land, or take off in a cave?

OK, we've all seen it in the movies. The evil bad organization has a secret landing strip concealed inside a mountain, the door opens up and the plane either flies out of the cave, or it lands into it. My question is, has anyone ever done this in real life? Has there ever been an airstrip inside...

    Auto Gyro on floats?

I was reading an article in the AOPA magazine about auto gyros and some of the cool new designs they have for them in Europe and it got me to thinking, Why don't we see more autogyros on amphibious floats? Is there a reason I'm not seeing as to why this might be a terrible idea? It seems like...

Are airliners headed into uncharted territory?

Things have changed in the airline industry in the last 10-15 years. I just got back from Mexico tonight on a commercial airliner and it made me think, I can't remember the last time I flew on an airliner that wasn't packed all the way full in every seat, or very near it. They seem to have...

So... used 1/2 built kit, what happens?

What happens when you buy somebody's partially built kit plane? When you finish it, are you recorded as the builder and have full privileges even though you did not complete 51%?? If so, the unfinished and seemingly unpopular "half builts" might represent one of GA's greatest values. Low cost...

Finally, an RC model that looks real in flight!

Finally, scale airspeed! Fantastic detail. Gear, lights and control surfaces. The fuselage is filled with helium and only weights 10 oz. Ducted electric fans. Pretty impressive.
