Buying a plane based in North Carolina

have them fly it to your state or a fly away state and do the deal there? If I bought a car (or other mobile asset) from a private party in another state with the intentions of driving said vehicle back home...and the original state tried to charge me tax I would tell them to kiss off...

Three brothers with no PPL considering purchasing a plane

Looks like the perfect trainer for PPL getting north of 100hrs doing IA in and then selling for something better, more capable, etc. Did you put the ownership in an LLC? Do you have club by laws and an operating agreement? Look at a bunch of other clubs forms on the web for ideas. These cover...

    Hangar Monthly Rent

I think it has been discussed before, but part of the problem with airports 'throwing up' hangars is the new building codes. Costs are ASTRO-NOMICAL, compared to the olden days when an airport would throw up a row of tee hangars for $98 and some free avgas. Now its, environmental impact, soil...

    Tires for F-450

I ran Sumitomo AT tires on my 1/2 ton for years. Now have cooper AT and like them as well. Sumitomo makes commercial truck tires and I wouldn’t hesitate to use on 250/350/450 type vehicle.

    Hangar Monthly Rent

Yeah. I am thinking a little that depending on getting this house to sell and selling it goes...and if the cherokee doesnt bankrupt me getting it airworthy...I may sell it up here and look for somethin in GA with a hangar already that I can keep the hangar. When I left that partnership maybe 8...

    So I bought a C182 - what now?

And once you start traveling with it...ie 250+ nm trips bring an oil filter, couple spark plugs, wires, points file, hose clamps, 100mph tape, good inner tube, maybe starter relay, fuses, etc...its bad enough to have the plane pull a mechanical on you at home/near home...its even worse when your...

    Hangar Monthly Rent

My house in ATL is in Woodstock. I was previously in a partnership at KRYY, and flew from KNCI some and had some EAA friends at VPC. PUJ would be over an hour, assuming no traffic and maybe a bit far for me. The plane is very old and the paint is 2.5/10 so if it sits outside (assuming i get...

    Hangar Monthly Rent

Dang....I am planning to move back to ATL next year...hopefully in the spring and if I bring this Cherokee back with me I guess it will live outside. I have looked around for space and even some of the places you could get into pretty easily 7-8 years ago are full up with long lists and lots of...

Was looking for something else and realized i never updated this as promised....so... it was pretty easy. FFS. I need a new hobby.

Sorry to hear about your repeated shaft failure.....Phrasing??? I hope you can find someone competent to repair it this time. Regrading the last guy....I am reminded of the movie Ransom starring Mel Gibson. IN this movie he plays a wealthy businessman whos so is kidnapped. Instead of giving...

    Safety; rules vs freedoms

A lot of the rules regarding 121 (maybe 135) are because some ya-hoo back in the 20’s-70’s did some stupid **** and killed a bunch of people. Example Texas international air flight 655 deviated 100nm at night to try and get around a line of storms…while VFR. They hit a mountain right as the...

Please help me pick my second motorcycle

Many years ago I was behind a "Ninja bike" at Fontana that was chasing a Motorcycle magazine rider doing a review of the new FJR 1300. The FJR was stock and had hard bags on it. The sportbike guy lowsided trying to keep up with the FJR as he Magazine guy was scraping the hell out of the...

1969 Cherokee 140B: Slow to climb

Bad rpm reading? Was the throttle ALL the way in? Maybe the carb wasn’t partially blocked or not open all the way? Any engine instruments, fuel flow, egt, cht, etc that you could check for comparison? When I had fuel flow it was nice to see it in the same range every climb out so you knew the...
