    ATP; CE-500; RVSM

Sorry folks, I was in the airport waiting to fly home when I posted. CE-500 allows me to fly several different Citation jets. ATP rating I take it y'all understand and RVSM was explained above. It was a lot of work. Great oral, but I messed up one approach on the flight test and had to...

Twin Engine Failure With A/P Engaged

Interesting. I thought APs controlled roll with ailerons alone and didn't put in rudder trim; that's what lead some planes to stall when left in AP after an engine failure. Does your AP also adjust rudder trim? My KA doesn't. The AP will hold it in cruise, but a good idea to trim the rudder...

Twin Engine Failure With A/P Engaged

Citation II (550) Engine Failure During Coupled Approach: 1. Power (operating engine) INCREASE as required. 2. AP and yaw dampener OFF. 3. Airspeed - VREF plus 10 4. Rudder trim - TRIM toward operating engine. 5. Flaps T.O. & Approach For a precautionary shut down, AP isn't mentioned...

Twin Engine Failure With A/P Engaged

Our King Air will hold the plane just fine in cruise if an engine fails. In the Citation, the checklist requires AP off, retrim and back on as auto trim won't keep up. Best, Dave

How to explain the ATP rating to non-pilots?

I could have skipped getting an MBA also; don't know if it would have changed where I wound up at all, but I'll tell you, I learned to think, write and present myself differently in that course. In my case, my insurer made my coverage easier to get and gave higher liability limits if I got my...

If you own a Garmin 530W...

Do they throw in a free language course? Took me YEARS to learn Garminese. Kinna hate to take the time to learn something new. Already am behind on my French, although, I do much better after a bit of regional wine when there :)

    FIFI over Lake Texoma

Hard to believe, isn't it. The entity on the P-Baron was JDSS05; so, 10 years this summer. Sold that to Tim Doreen who I keep touch with. He's now resold it to someone on the west coast and is looking for a 421. Three years in the KA now and over 450 hours logged plus sim time. Just over 20...

    FIFI over Lake Texoma

I've not really out grown it. Wonderful bird. Had a friend recommend I fly a Citation II to see if it worked better on the long trips I take to east coast and Madison. Flew the II and was able to dry lease a V. Went through initial ground and am now flying to get ready for a check ride which...

    FIFI over Lake Texoma

Ummm wasn't that you in Denver last year with a friend? Sure looked and sounded like you :) I'm headed back to Denver to ski early March if you'd like to re-live the experience.

    FIFI over Lake Texoma

A good friend and flight instructor in my plane, Al Benzing has been flying FIFI at bit more with the B-24 he has been flying going in for some work this year. Here's a link to a nice recent vid of her. https://vimeo.com/119656953?from=facebook Scott Slocum took the vid and should be...

    Pres. TFR finally got me.

Ninety Seven today on the FAA web site, which of course we can't use for other than general information. It's just getting nuts and there seems to be no reasonable cap on the number of these. I have two pet peeves in aviation re these: they need to be limited in number to things which truly...

    ATP Written: Aggravating questions.

Kent: I had a couple like that too, but I passed by a decent margin and have moved on ;). I had to compute trim tab settings on 727. Don't think I'll be using that! What bugged me most was telling them what kind of mistake it was for pilot not to set heading bug to runway heading in FAA...

Anyone else have experience based at a Landmark FBO?

I recently received the third invite to attend sim training in my previous plane. I attend in my current plane. I've asked them three times to remove me from that list.

Scott: is that on Harbour Island? Got the new part in today. Run up was good. Flew out late this afternoon and the entire family is back together again on Harbour Island.

    Bahamas trip

We routinely fly in class A airspace, so, it's a backup. We alternate between one and two on each trip.

    Bahamas trip

With two engines and generators, the plane would fly on one generator, but you'd have to keep the electrical load down which means no AC. Not fun in a pressurized plane! Still, glad it happened here as you said. If it was the right generator, we wouldn't have been able to start that engine.

    Bahamas trip

Flew to Fort Pierce to clear customs today. Very quick walk through and I was out. Went to start the plane and the right generator wouldn't come on line. No help at Fort Pierce, so, I flew to Bartow so Bill Turley could look at it. Isolated the trouble to the generator control unit. Trying...
