    Why would avionics backlighting pulse?

I’ve flown twice since posting and the pulsing has stopped. Now I don’t know if it’s an intermittent issue or, as TimBeck2 mentioned above, possibly due to an active warning or caution at the time causing it. The pulsing is similar (possibly the same) as what occurs when that happens, so it is...

    Instrument training…

I had a DG go bad once. As I completed a turn, it just started spinning quickly in one direction. Consistent rate and direction. I’ve probably had hundreds of various instrument failures in military simulators and was very surprised at how distracting and disorienting this was, even with two...

    Why would avionics backlighting pulse?

They still pulse with all exterior lighting (strobes, acoll, navs….all of them) off. It does it with engine running and not running. I haven’t tried it with the alternators off and engines running, but the alternators are off when the engines aren’t running and the instruments still pulse, so...

    Why would avionics backlighting pulse?

Great advice, thanks! Will give it a shot this week. I also have a message in with EI support to see their thoughts too and will post that here if it’s pertinent.

    Why would avionics backlighting pulse?

I’m not certain…. I’ve only flown the plane at night once since I had it installed and it’s almost imperceptible during the day.

    Why would avionics backlighting pulse?

I have a EI CGR combo in my plane. It has the light sensor that auto dims the engine instruments as the light conditions change. At night, the digital displays “pulse.” It does it during the day as well, but it’s not noticeable unless you’re specifically looking for it, but at night it’s very...

What’s your normal radio reception range?

Haven’t been able to check much more than whether things are connected, but did get to fly today and do more deliberate testing. At 6500’, I could receive airborne traffic out to at least 93 nm pretty clearly. I could receive one class C control tower out to at least 70 nm. Another Class C...

What’s your normal radio reception range?

Do you mean swap the antennas with another aircraft? No, that’s not an option for me. I’ll be able to check for corrosion, good connection, check ohms, etc (first three steps highlighted above by KE5BM). Anything beyond that will require me to take it to an avionics shop.

What’s your normal radio reception range?

Wow! Who are you contacting that far away? Or just checking weather on faraway fields? What equipment? I wish I’d have thought about trying the weather when I began to suspect an issue as at least I’d know exactly where the transmitters were…that’ll be for next week. Quite a range in here...

What’s your normal radio reception range?

As far as I know it’s only poor Rx, but that’s an assumption/not confirmed. It Rx just a hair better with the squelch open, but not enough to make much of a difference. Have not checked any settings, but the radio hasn’t been touched by anyone in the 9 years I’ve owned the plane. The 430W was...

What’s your normal radio reception range?

Squelch on mine gave a very slight improvement….less than 10 miles or so.

What’s your normal radio reception range?

Ground elevation is only 500-800’ here. I can’t remember the last time the plane got wet, aside from washing. But, I went from a very humid part of the country to a not quite as humid part, so moisture could still be the culprit. Thank you for the tips, will start there!

What’s your normal radio reception range?

I moved to a new area of the country a little over a year ago. However, yesterday was the first time I’ve filed IFR since making the move and I had some trouble receiving 2 different approach sectors outside of about 40nm from 7000-8000’ non-mountainous hot/humid like everywhere. I have a 530W...

Want To Buy Dynon Pocket Panel

I’ve got a Dynon D3 that I’ve been meaning to get rid of. Used it to bridge the gap between a lazy AI and a G5. I’m pretty sure I even have the original packaging. Shouldn’t have any scratches and the screen has had a protector in it since it came out of the box. I can send you pics and...

    Home Inspections

So our initial offer was already less than asking and the seller was offering a large “credit” toward lower interest rates that we just converted into lowering the buying price. After the inspection, we just renegotiated to have some of the more difficult repairs to be made. Fortunately there...
