Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

I love it that he says he wishes he just went back and got the guy. If he did and was arrested, he would have had a big payday! If I heard it right it was a Michigan fire fighter who threatened him? Figures.

Do you subscribe to Windy.com Premium subscription? Do you find it beneficial for trip planning?

I bought the premium last night and was up too late checking it out. After a few hours of testing it, to me it is well worth the small cost. It is reasonably easy to learn so that is a plus.

Another unleaded 100LL replacement approved (Swift 100R)

Im ready for a different fuel. I run as lean as I can with a carb and I still had lead fouling on my plugs when I checked them on my annual today. The pugs were easily cleaned with a piece of safety wire but my borescope pictures show lead deposits on the inside. I my start using Rec gas as they...

    Considering a RV-6A But.......

I built my 9A and love it. A friend and mentor did the phase 1 for me so I could finish up my training. I did about half of my lessons in my plane including my check ride. I got my license about 2 years ago and have almost close to 300 hours in my plane. It is a blast to fly and very true to...

Holland MI and Beaches Fly Over

You are right. I only uploaded it so my kids and grandkids could see it. The best thing was the picture I pulled out from the video. I do need to learn to edit and add sound. I have another camera in the cockpit to record video and audio but dont know how to blend the two. Im not trying to make...

    Self serve fuel pump etiquette

When I was teaching middle school, I would tell students without a clue - you know when you close your eyes, we are all still here. Some got it and some never will.

Holland MI and Beaches Fly Over

I will have to give that a try. Maybe not that low but fast along the beach line sounds fun. It sure is a pretty place.

Holland MI and Beaches Fly Over

On Saturday morning I skipped the EAA meeting and went for a fun flight from Mason MI to Holland MI - on Lake Michigan. I got some cool video and a couple nice still shots from my gopro 360. It isnt the greatest for distance video but I am amazed at the quality of a photo when you grab a frame...

    $50. Oil filter

I have a Lyo O-320 and use KN 1002 filters. Always good results from Blackstone and they are reasonably priced. I change about 25 hours or 4 months so they are not on that long.

Anybody know of a good online aviation radius map?

Thanks! I just tried it in skyvector and it worked great. I changed it to 425 miles which is what I plan for 2.5 to 3 hours. Gives a nice way to plan a trip!

Tips, ideas for judging off-field landing distances?

If you are not good at judging distances, learn how. Grab a can of marking paint and go mark off 1000' sections on a road or field. Fly over it at different altitudes and see what it looks like. Three tips I heard from a smart pilot. 1. If you have an option, land close to a house or road -...

    ForeFlight versions

I started with Basic and quickly upgraded to Performance Plus. I like the 3d showing the flight and the synthetic display. I was working on my license so I was a beginner and Foreflight was all new to me. I have Garmin G3X system and Garmin Pilot also. I probably will skip renewing the Garmin...

    Oxygen Script?

I am learning I know less about tanks and filling than I thought. I can see it would be easier to go with a small welding tank system and maybe that is the best bet. If I wanted to get a script, do you have a sample I can show my doctor? He doesnt know what to write. Maybe just a letter from...

    Oxygen Script?

Thanks. I will see if I can get one so I can put it on my oxygen tank. The one on there now is different.

    Oxygen Script?

My question is when I am 2000 miles from home and need a refill. Will a welding shop fill an aluminum medical oxygen tank? I dont really want to carry a heavy steel welding tank in my plane. I have an adapter I got from MH but would they use it? Do they have their own adapter? My Inogen G4 works...

    Oxygen Script?

Maybe I am worrying about something I dont need to. I will try and take my tank to a few places in town and see what they say. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Oxygen Script?

I do have it set up to run on the charger. It works fine for me up to about 10k'. I will need to go up to about 14k' this fall and I may have a passenger too so the G4 is not powerful enough. The G5 is close and the new G6 would probably do it but I need a tank for this trip.

    Oxygen Script?

Even at a medical supply in another state? If the airport I go into doesnt have fills, I would get it fille in a town medical supply. That is my concern. I think maybe just a letter stating he approved getting the tank filled for flights?
