Boeing's streak continues: 737 Gear Collapse

The Boeing 737 MAX 8, which arrived from Memphis, “rolled onto the grass when exiting onto the taxiway around 8 a.m.,” the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

Boeing's streak continues: 737 Gear Collapse

Article sez gear collapse. Assuming that's the case, shouldn't take the NTSB long to find the point(s) of failure. "Newish" plane? Or possible United maintainers failure? Time will tell I 'spose.

    Floatplane incident Miami

Interesting topic. Can't speak to seaplane, but I can for boats in the marine environment and it is extremely unforgiving. Any wiring connection that isn't completely sealed/waterproof will eventually corrode, and ultimately fail, not to mention the galvanic corrosion. The lifespan of a...

Small plane lands on Long Island’s Southern State Parkway

Thanks. #'s weren't very legible in the news video. Pretty wild that they're both PA-28-180's with identical N #'s save for the last digit... Flight school, out of fuel would be inexcusable. Unless the '75 is different than the '69 I've flown the fuel selector is buried down low forward of the...

Small plane lands on Long Island’s Southern State Parkway

Thought I got the numbers correct...Texas 3 weeks ago and nothing since (?) https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/N33661

    Cheapest Twin on EBay Down

So something as critical as gasketing on a recessed fuel cap to prevent water intrusion into the fuel would not have been part of the annual the plane had just passed? I get that according to the report the pilot failed to sump the tanks, but seems the holes in the cheese wouldn't have aligned...

    Plane crash on FL freeway

Communications director of Naples Airport: "It was coming in for a landing," she said. "We received word that it had possibly lost an engine, we have not confirmed that, then we lost contact." Wouldn't that jet be quite capable of flying with one engine out (assuming that is correct)?

Clearwater FL crash into mobile home park

^^^ Odd. Looks like left downwind, but instead of turning NE for base turned south and then west away from the airport. When the report stated Clwr Mall I thought PIE, plane was miles from CLW.

    Crash in Caribbean

I thought about that... I wasn't familiar with that aircraft- fabric skin over steel tube frame and spruce/plywood wings. Lists stall speed as 70 mph, what are the odds that an airplane of that construction could survive a "Scully" style water landing, even with the gear up?

    Crash in Caribbean

Article stated he had radioed the tower reporting trouble and was turning around. "Impossible turn" stall? Nothing but water in front of rwy 30, and mountains at rwy 12. No good options there...sad.

    Cirrus SR22 GTS X G3 Turbo down 1TA7 Canton Tx, 1 Fatality, 12/26/03

Still, even if pulled at low altitude at the "OH S***" moment- wouldn't the drag from deployment be helpful? International airport with a 7k foot runway, ILS and approach lighting/runway alignment lighting from what I'm reading. Not some backwoods airport... weather clear, no wind- I have no...

Cessna 172 crash at zephyrhills 12/07/23

Thank you for the comments...didn't mean to hijack this thread into a different subject. Agree completely on the risk tolerance aspect... to each their own. I decided I won't fly at night unless it's necessary for some reason- if I ever get to a turbine (doubtful) might be different. My son...

Cessna 172 crash at zephyrhills 12/07/23

Visible right flap does appear to be extended. My son's property is 1/2 mile directly off the end of rwy 5, busy place on fair weather weekends, sure was Saturday when I was there. If it was another touch and go, the plane wasn't cleaned up on the runway, Skyhawk POH calls for zero flaps for...

    PA28 down near Gainesville, FL

Might **** off the mods but I'm going to cross-post this link, where it was moved to the "media" section like it's some dude with a go-pro filming his flight and isn't seen by anyone. This thread is about ADM, and this is as relevant as it gets...

    Navy plane in the water

Wow...I hope for the PIC's sake it was due to mechanical failure of some sort. Partial submersion in salt water, that aircraft is spare parts now.

Pilot Survives Crash Landing In The Everglades

Flies from Homestead to a nearby grass strip, then to KOBE at 1 a.m...1/2 hour on the ground, departs at 3:00 am apparently headed back to KOBE. Nah...nothin' to see here, move along.. I've done a bit of smugglin', and I've run my share of grass I made enough money to buy Miami, but I ****ed...
