C172 337 for HID Landing light - FAR Question

Cool! Thanks Lance! I came up with the idea that the light has a narrower horizontal beam angle (10 vs 12 degrees), and identical vertical beam angle (10 degrees) as the original light. Given it has the same form factor, it should not be an issue. I think they are concerned about...

    Bug Fix - Reputation

Ok, does the rep bar REALLY grow? I just went through all 12 pages of members and everyone has 1 square. What are the cutoffs for level (I'm stuck at unknown), and when does it move to two squares?? (although, I kinda like being "unknown" rather than distinguished! LOL)

C172 337 for HID Landing light - FAR Question

Yup. They do the work, and you pay. I'm trying to go cheap, and I think I almost have it through the FAA. I'm just stuck on how to address the glare issue... I guess the easiest is call and ask!

C172 337 for HID Landing light - FAR Question

I believe the XeVision is the SAME device as Lopresti, right down to the ballast. It appears the same, just significantly cheaper - like $500 to $700 less.

C172 337 for HID Landing light - FAR Question

I am an a quest to obtain a 337 to allow me to install a XeVision HID landing light in my C172. The physical process appears to be straight forward, however I have a question about the 337. I submitted my idea to a local (and very helpful) Minneapolis FSDO inspector a couple of weeks ago, and...

I wonder if the potential users insurance companies will have any misgivings about sending insureds in "small" aircraft? I know several folks who are prohibited from flying in small planes, but I don't know if that's due to their size or the fact its not a 135 op...

wget is also a great way to grab http files from a unix box. I always hated downloading it on my PC, and then moving it over. Just put the URL in, and away you go! BTW, you could set it up as a cron to keep it all in sync.

OOH!! I bet you could use wget! Something like: wget -r -l99 ftp://user:password@host/path thats an L in the "l99" specifing the number of levels to recurse. I _think_ that would work!

Whats your access? ftp only? Bummer. rsync is a utility to keep directory trees in "sync" between servers. It is optimized for fast transfers. Very cool. I use it to sync my main servers with disaster recovery ones at another location. It runs by cron and works very well. You would need shell...

You could tar the file, and then just ftp the tar file. Alternately use rsync, and you can keep it in sync automatically. Let me know if you want the syntax.

Sounds like they are doing the same thing the folks here in MN are doing. I posted a thread about it a while ago. Here's the link: http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/showthread.php?t=1092
