    Inline headset PTT button

There isn't enough info for us to be helpful really... Could the tower hear him? I have to guess that this is how your intercom operates by design given what you shared. Not sure it has anything to do with the ptt, but you can have somebody test this pretty easily. Have you looked over the...

SureFly Electronic Mag - who has one?

I just did a with a surefly install with a EI mvp-50, and had to remove the resistor and replace it with a 10k resistor, which worked. The EI installation manual specifically covers this and says that you don't have to use the resistor when using an electronic ignition.

    AOA Indicator: Pneumatic vs electronic?

Having installed the CYA and flown behind an alpha systems AOA I think you're actually asking the wrong question. both methods of sensing the angle of attack are functionally equivalent to the pilot and both seem to work very well. The major difference between the CYA and the alpha systems is...

SureFly Electronic Mag - who has one?

Just installed in my plane. The logic seemed clear from an economic, reliability, and performance perspective. There are good threads on the Vans forum, and also good articles in aviation consumer. Advanced timing, solid state reliability, increased longevity, better precision... And let's...

    SPT vs. Nulite panel lighting

I installed the nulite, and did six instruments in an hour. I had to get longer bolts, and getting the panel off and on was the most time consuming.

What do we think of the GNX 375?

I'm with the folks above that went avidyne. I pulled the GNS430W out and slid in an IFD440 and under an hour had a touchscreen and was ready to add the AXP-22 and have ADSB out. This seems like a really easy and simple solution. if you're going to go for something that's the size of the 430W, I...

G5 to get TAS and other goodies like wind data

I have seen that even without the update, if the g5 can read OAT via the gad 29 via RS-232, it will compute and output density altitude on the data bus, but not the screen. I will be very interested to see if the output in the screen works with a non-dedicated OAT probe.

Cessna 182P PTSD - (Plane Trouble Starting Disorder)

I also have a p-ponk in my 182, and I find that about a half a shot of primer is all I need to have it starting within a half blade to one blade. I'm also thinking either your primer isn't working or you're not getting fuel into the engine from the primer? Definitely something is wrong. Fwiw my...

    Audio Panel Suggestions

I also have a ps panel and like it. To the op's point though, sounds like you have a microphone issue, not an intercom issue. $5 says you need to manually adjust the microphone position on your quiet people to fix the issue.

Isn't the alpha systems a good enough match?

    Wind Shear in Temperature Inversions

I've also had really bumpy air in the mountains above the inversion due to wind and dead calm and smooth a hundred feet below just inside the inversion. Remember that an inversion is air getting warmer as we ascend, then cooling again at some point. This can make for some strange air currents...

    iPad Pro 11"

In my 182 the 10.5 was to big for the yoke... But worked elsewhere in the panel. It did fit, but was unwieldy and I realized that looking down that far took my eyes from the horizon.

    GNS430W <==> G5 OBS

Fwiw, in VOR mode the g5, not the 430, computes the needle and flag, which is different than it would have been for the king. So if you go to the self test screen and change the obs and see nothing change in the 430, the g5 should still be able to show the correct needle and flag.

Will a new prop increase airspeed?

Good thinking in this thread, so let's also add a factor: fuel consumption or where you run your engine. Maybe you will fly faster at some power setting if your current prop isnt able to "put down the power.". That makes lots of sense. But at lower cruise power settings I'm not sold that it...

    G5 battery

It is a lithium ion so basically all the standard rules apply. Not a ton of things you can do that make economic sense, aside from ensuring that it stays charged, i.e. that it's powered correctly. You're not going to air condition your hangar for a battery...

    G5 Operating as a DG

The g5 can be configured to start in ai or dg mode. This is covered in the installation manual. That said, I would not buy the g5 as the ifd will show the same info on its screen I think... Best to verify what you need especially if you are ifr..

    ADSB to GTN650

NordicDave, appreciate the data, but while people keep saying xyz is certified in, I can not find anything in the Garmin docs to that effect. Could this all be an old wives tale about certified in?

    ADSB to GTN650

On what basis? Where is this in the regulations? AC 20-172b covers ads-b in and states that it is advisory and doesn't relieve the pilot of responsibility. It also has requirements, and I could see a reading that a manufacturer must get a stc... But I'm not seeing stcs for "in"... Garmin's...
