    My checkride is this Saturday!!

Snag, good luck, and don't sweat the weather issue. I had to reschedule my checkride because of weather. Also, look at the plane being fixed as a blessing - it gives them an opportunity to make sure everything else is good on the plane right before your ride too. Just make sure you check the...

    Flying Across America

Wow, I'm kind of surprised by all of the negativity towards this project in this thread, but sadly, I shouldn't be. It's what has come to be the norm from quite a few people on this board, which is why I don't post here that often anymore or invest a lot of time in reading all of the posts...

    Flying Across America

Hey Everyone, These guys had a last-minute change in plans and will be going to Tucson, AZ today (June 29) and Blythe, CA tomorrow (June 30). Is there anyone here from those areas that can set them up with a hangar overnight and a ride to/from a local restaurant and hotel? As an added bonus...

    Airspace Question

Very good question. I've never seen something like that before. The answer to this question (like most) is found in the AIM: And the next paragraph: So, the Class B airspace rules would apply.

Makeup D'Shannon Beechcraft Fly-In at 1940 Air Terminal Museum

Well, the fly-in part happens on the third Saturday of every month, and Beechcraft are always welcome. They're not always the focus, but they're never turned away. Typically, anyone who flies in gets free admission, including lunch.

Added a New State to My Map!

We wore life jackets in pouches on our waists for the entire flight and were briefed by the CFI on their usage before getting in the plane. On the west side of the island, there were plenty of beaches, roads, and empty parking lots we could have gone for. On the north tip of the island is an...

Added a New State to My Map!

See the description: "States in which I have landed an aircraft." I purposely did that instead of 'States I have flown to.' So, my map represents something different from yours.

Added a New State to My Map!

Hey Everyone, I just got back from a week-long vacation to Hawaii, and I was able to commit a flagrant act of aviation while I was there! The fiancee and I spent several days on the Big Island, and on Saturday, June 12, I went up with Mike Lauro from Tropicbird Flight Service out of Kona...

    Finally Starting Flight Training

If you have a computer headset, I'd say use the sim on VATSIM at http://www.vatsim.net. This will help you practice your radio communications and become very comfortable with that - it helped me immensely during my private training. Will you be doing your training back here in Houston? If...
