So, did this guy just kill his career?

Where I once worked (before retirement) we would get periodically "audited" by INPO, the "Institute for Nuclear Power Operations." Their findings were, of course, a snapshot--just a snapshot. But those snapshots were taken seriously by the Federales, in the form of the NRC. So we always had...

LED Landing & Taxi Lights STC

So, being terminally lazy, and needing to cram for an Am. Hist. exam, bottom line: can I install one of these Parmetheus units in my Cherokee 140 with the standard incandescent bulb? Thanks!

    FAA Based Aircraft Inventory Requirement...

Re: FAA Baed Aircraft Inventory Requirement... Back online now. Some of the back story is, morale is quite low here. Used to be a waiting list, but many have chosen to go to fields where rent is much higher. Our local pilots' club used to meet on the field; we used to give rides for $__.__...

    FAA Based Aircraft Inventory Requirement...

Re: FAA Baed Aircraft Inventory Requirement... Wow, Bob, you can rent a nice little house here in Bolivar for those kinds of bucks!! Nope, they won't be washing the plane or anything; I suspect they'll be trying to violate anyone who is not in "compliance" Sigh. They are really trying a lot...

Birthday fly-in/cook out at the farm - 2010

Didn't take very many photos, but here are a few. Thanks to Joe Areeda for shuttling me to Twin Oaks (even if I did have to sit beside two Gorillas  :cornut:); Dean, I won't tell anyone how quickly you got me back to LLU, if you give me a ride in your next Challenger...B)

Am I way off base here....

Ah, the good ol' days: Waay back when, I was the proud owner (along with Mare Island Credit Union) of a 1974 Mustang II, with 2.8L V-6, and automatic transmission. While stationed in Idaho Falls, I learned how to do the bootleg turn, and had lots of fun doing it (rich and single sailor, was I)...

    Turkish Airlines #1951

There's a reason the NRC (and 28 years prior to that, Naval Reactors) is allergic to things that go 1-0-1-0 in the night. Sometimes, especially when when bells and whistles are attached that make things happen, the wrong things happen... I don't think the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will...

The difference in adding a person to the backseat

I was taught to use pitch and power to maintain airspeed and rate of descent without the rote power settings. That said, I fly a Cherokee 6 with a huge CG envelope and my landings get better as I load it. I think this is due to the elevator being having more authority as the CG moves aft. If...

    Has Scientific Notation Changed???

Speaking of slide rules, we on Bainbridge (CGN-25) were appalled when the nuggets from nuke skool started showing up with TI-30 scientific calculators! :yikes: Those nubs didn't even know how to use a slide rule! We wondered how they would even be able to stand Reactor Operator watch!:D

How the National Anthem should be sung

The history behind Francis Scott Key's poem needs to be re-taught too. Too many young people I know have the attitude the National Anthem is too militaristic, and should be changed; little do they know that the rockets and bombs were from a British bombardment against a fort which also housed...
