    New Car

Similar Honda success here... 2004 Element 270k miles. Hope to hit 300k within the next 12 months. Mobile 1 every 10k She's been pretty trouble free. Some minor issues like anti-sway bar bushings, but otherwise just tires and brakes. Even with WI winters, I think the exhaust is just...

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Yes, but not sure if it is standard or not. The slider design slows deployment, but I am sure there is some max speed limit

    Big Dogs and wood floors

Prefinish maple here (likely some Aluminum oxide in the finish). Two, well now only one :( , dog. Some scratches, but none through the finish. Going on 7-8 years now... It is my understanding that it's hard to beat the prefinish durability, but we made sure we put in true 3/4 flooring so...

    Underpriced planes...

Boy oh boy do I regret using the term "efficient market". :) Allow me to restate my opinion of aircraft pricing as being "directly related to support network (formal or informal) and inversely related to operating costs" IOW cheap airplanes have little support or a small amount of hard to...

Cabin Size of a Cessna 182S vs. 172S

Yes, 182 is wider. As mentioned previously, there is a gap between the front seats. Although, I should mention, I've never been able to get the drink cart down that aisle. If possible, you can gain shoulder room in either by offsetting the front seats from each other.

    Underpriced planes...

OK - to handle the over-priced birds, I'll hedge my comment by saying it's not a market if nothing changes hands :-) You could probably run some fancy math on the listing prices, throw out the outliers, and offset by some likely small discount and have a good idea of actual selling prices...

    Underpriced planes...

The airplane market seems incredibly efficient. Cheap planes seem to be either poorly supported/orphaned or are expensive to feed. Light Twins come to mind... However, to answer you query: A nice balance between a Viking and, say, a 60's Bonanza would be an older Bo with the E series engine.

Auction Find - Machined Parts, what are they?

You might be able to sell those gearboxes on eBay, but I think the rest is pretty paperweights.

    Work, welfare, suicide, & society

When new developments occur/products are created, how do those get into the matrix? Things are a little hosed up right now, but at least our system does its best to provide the possibility of equal opportunity rather than profess the existence of equal outcomes.

    Work, welfare, suicide, & society

The problem with communism is it requires administration by humans. In theory, it's the perfect system. In practice, some animals make themselves more equal than others.
