O320 how prevalent are cam issues when sitting

Dont know if this helps or not, but read a comment/practice on another forum that I have adopted, but when I get the plane back in the hangar after a flight, I open the oil fill cap while I am wiping down the bugs off the plane unloading it or tinkering in the hangar. His theory was it may let...

Jet Crash at Greenville Downtown Airport

On mscards second picture, the building behind the fire trucks looks like a place called "The Landing strip" It was a strip club at one time. I got my PPL at KGMU back in 1998 and accidentally went in there a couple dozen times thinking it was a restaurant. :)

    Attention please....

I bet it was your wife! My wife throws away my underwear without telling me. I mean just because it has lost 20% of the material in key places doesnt mean I cant get another year or two out of them. Wives are sneaky like that.

    Aircraft Spruce

I like ACS selection, beats the **** out of Sportys. The one thing I have never liked is that they never seem to be able to give you an exact amount for shipping. I print off my order and it has one shipping cost and when my credit card gets billed it is always a few dollars more. That being...

    Confessions of a Cherokee Pilot

I left a fuelhawk dipstick on my cowling once and saw it go whizzing by as i applied takeoff power on the runway. Fortunately it was a little used airport so i was able abort the takeoff and taxi back and go walking down the runway and found it after 5 minutes. My fuel caps have chains on them...

    Redbird Flight Simulator

Having been a pilot for over 20 years and also growing up flying a ton of at home flight sims (never flown a redbird), I would forego the flight sim partm save the money and go straight to the plane. A flight sim is great in some respects (perhaps teaching rote memory items), but a flight sim...

post the aviation thing you learned today

It came as a shock to me at ~400ft on final. Pucker factor was an 11 LOL. I slip at 30° from time to time no problem so I was a little skeptical an extra 10° would make that much difference...I was wrong.

post the aviation thing you learned today

Don't try to slip a 1966 Cessna 172 with 40° flaps...that nose down sudden pitch they mention in the manual ain't no joke! (and yes, I was high and should have just gone around) :(

[NA] As pilots, what are we switching to as we move away from cargo shorts and New Balance?

Fashion is circular...dont throw away any clothes...they will come back in style sooner or later. I am still waiting for the MC Hammer pants to come back in style from the 80's! (the ones in my closet are neon no less). Is mowing my lawn in dress socks still in fashion? My wife doesnt think...

    The things we find, hopefully.

When I bought my plane last October, I had it weighed and it was 75lbs heavier than the most current weight and balance from 10 years ago. Once I had that, I literally weighed everything I carry in my plane which I think some people forget or just don't do. Stuff adds up quickly. So for...

Could someone explain the typical procedure for the XC portion of the PPL Checkride?

I walked my DPE through my plan on the ground, but in the air, once I got to my first checkpoint roughly 15 miles away and my DPE said "enough of that let's do stalls". End of the X/C

Protocol for relaying on Center frequency

On cross country flights I have recently started listening to guard mainly because I can only take so much ear piercing chatter and squeal on 122.8 and if i had an emergency I could quickly make a mayday call. I am shocked at the number of calls looking for planes (mostly air carrier) on guard...

East Coast: Fun destinations for a toddler?

    Best phone call ever?

Best phone call I have gotten lately was from "Steve" at the IRS saying that I was owed a rather large refund but they needed all my private information to confirm it. Still haven't gotten that check yet strangely. Probably delayed in the mail.
