    1965 wreckage found (maybe)

Isn’t jellystone supposed to erupt and cool the oceans 3-6 degrees?… I think they have it pinned down to a 700,000 year cycle. +-200,000 years and we’re in the window.

Citation Down Into Percy Priest Lake After Takeoff From Syrna MQY

Yes, but having a rotorcraft rating does not qualify anybody to get in a airplane. Which was the answer to the question asked.

Citation Down Into Percy Priest Lake After Takeoff From Syrna MQY

helicopter “licenses” are entirely different. Steep descents can happen a number of ways. I’m sure the NTSB will tell us soon.

    Real TAS in a 180hp C-172

I think the raptor was supposed to be 250+ true so I don’t think it’s out of line to get 200 or so out of a 172. Maybe add some gap seals and some extra cooling hoses

South Lyon Michigan (Y47) Comanche crash

I don’t know that the brother knows that approach is typically a IFR term. He’s probably implying he has flown into that airport 500 times. 500 instrument approaches would be a lot for a private pilot of any experience. Most of us do roughly 6 every 6 months o_O

I pick engine fire in flight for a little extra drama.

    Raptor Aircraft

This is a pretty cool build. I thought mooney had really pushed the limits of performance/aerodynamics. I would have never guessed a pregnant dolphin looking aircraft would do so much better on less. Can’t wait to see when he kicks on the anti-matter reactor and gets that thing up to the 300’s

What's it take to get a student pilot license these days?

Even the FAA calls a pilot certificate a license all over their website. Definitely worth 20-30 posts though.

    Entering the pattern towered airport

When they tell me to expect a left base I usually just fly in circles over the airport until I can establish an inverted teardrop 45 entry to the downwind, at least 500’ above TPA. That ATC is confusing.

    Where to build

I think I want to build a carbon cub. I'm mostly just worried that the fuselage kit will take up the entire garage but without the engine mount or wings and gear it might not be as bad as I'm thinking.

    Where to build

Anybody have advise or stories on building when your limited on space. I have a 2 car garage that fits 1.2 cars comfortably. I’d love to start a build but not sure it’s really doable. I can get rid of the car in the garage if I need to

    Bird Strike on Takeoff?

Depends on the bird you hit. For example if you hit a sky hawk you will probably lose some if not all controls but if you hit a regular hawk it wouldn’t be as bad.
