    Plane for teaching ,advise needed.

Here's an ad for the Chipmunk from 1952. "A Chipmunk carrying instructor and pupil can climb to 4,000 ft., do two spins, two loops, two rolls, and two rolls off the top, all above 3,000 ft., and then land in 19.5 minutes, using 2.75 gallons of fuel." I think mine could do that but you'd need...

    Plane for teaching ,advise needed.

Great list of planes!!! Most Chipmunks, mine included, and I think the PC3 and FW149 are licensed in the experimental/exhibition category by the FAA so you can't use them for instruction. I think the Marchetti's have a standard license but they're terribly expensive.

I've owned two without and flown several without. I've been thinking about an AOA indicator but the plumbing would be difficult.

That particular model and any other space heater I've checked is not, according to the manufacturer, to be left operating unattended and it's not supposed to plugged in with an extension cord. http://www.laskoproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/100MyHeaterPersonalCeramicHeater.pdf

Do you carry a fire extinguisher?

Several years ago we got a call about a data center we designed. I guess the data center had been up and running for about six months. The head technician for the data center evacuated the data center because of foul odors that he though might be combustible. I told him it was probably a...

Do you carry a fire extinguisher?

There's some talk about carrying a fire extinguisher in this thread about batteries. http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65929 I carry one in my plane now and had one in my previous plane. Do you carry one in your plane? Just curious.

    Looking for aircraft recommendations

I'd strongly consider buying what your wife likes best. I'm a former bonanza owner so that's my preference for a traveling machine but don't under estimate the value of two doors and not having to get up on the wing.

Cleanup Time! Your favorite products/ways to give 'er a bath?

I just use water to get the bugs off. I spray the leading edges, landing gear, nose, spinner, etc. liberally with water after I land. By the time the plane is back in the hanger, the water has loosened up the little carcasses and I can just wipe it clean with a microfiber towel. For the...

    Electroair Ignition System?

Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking about what to do in the future. The BTH mags on my Gipsy major are fine and can be rebuilt if needed. There's also a Slick magneto conversion but that conversion eliminates the mechanical spark advance of the BTH mags. Going with the P-Mags seems...

    Electroair Ignition System?

So they stink at maintaining a website :rolleyes2:. There's a tab on the left hand side for "Airshows 2013". I emailed them a question last week and got an immediate response. I followed up with a phone call and they answered their phone. Imagine that :D. I'll take that kind of...

    Electroair Ignition System?

Any try one of these? http://emagair.com/P-MAGII.htm It's an electronic magneto with a small alternator built into it. If your battery goes dead, the alternator provides enough juice to keep firing the plugs.

    Understanding Engineers

I think as a whole, us engineers have our fair share of know-it-alls as I'm certain you do in your profession. Perhaps you've met some. On the other hand, some of the things we need to explain are complicated and difficult for people to understand if they don't have a technical background...
