    First aviation headset- choice?

A couple of years ago when I first was told about buying/financing through Bose, it was interest free if paid within 12 months. NOTHING is worth 25% interest, not a car, house, boat. MAYBE a heart transplant.

    I need my IR!!!!

When I was flying I felt more comfortable flying IFR than VFR, regardless of weather conditions. Maybe it was because I stopped flying soon after getting my IR.

Piper Aerostar and rudder/vertical stab size?

I worked at the FBO in Daytona Beach, FL in the early 1990s. One NASCAR driver, Bobby Allison, had an Aerostar with the venerable Allison-250 turboprops installed. I think those enegines are now owned by Rolls Royce. Great guy and awesome aircraft.

Piper Aerostar and rudder/vertical stab size?

We have a couple of Piper Aerostars based at the local airport. One is pressurized and one is not. When looking at their rudders and vertical stabs it just seems there is no way they are large enough for single-engine contingency. Obviously they passed FAA certifications. I've yet to do any...

    Weekend Instrument ground school, thoughts?

The weekend IFR classes are for passing the IR written test. They are not designed to replace IR ground school. I picked up a few tips sitting in the weekend IFR classes American Flyers offered when I was an intern for them many years ago. Little shortcuts you could use on the complicated IFR...

Why chock the wheels when in a hangar?

A wheel chock is cheaper than almost any paint or minor maintenance repair from the aircraft rolling into something.

    N490NW - C172 - California to Hawaii

I watched Blancolirio's video about this flight. He said many of the flight school and single-engine aircraft in HI come over by flying. It's cheaper and faster than pulling the wings off and putting them in a container and float it to HI. I think it's not the owner and regular pilots moving...
