    Question to ATC guys/gals

I think the issue of being re-asked comes from his first post where he says that when asked his type he says "skymaster" instead of his real code. Since the controller asked for type because he didn't recognize skymaster in the first place the controller probably gives up and leaves it blank. So...

    KPUB

Thanks, denverpilot, for posting this info. My wife and I fly to AZ from S. Dak. each year in Feb and have stopped for a fuel and a meal at PUB nearly every time, both ways. Guess we'll need to look for a re-route. Somebody post again if something reopens there.

    Insurance Based On Grass Strip

My insurance premium did not change when I moved the plane (Warrior) to a turf airport (hangared at both).

    Busted an Alert Area

Some alert areas are alert areas because they are filled with student pilots. And they are probably not even getting FF. So it should be no problem for a seasoned pilot like you. Just be alert!

    VFR Flight Following question....

While leaving Mpls on FF the controller was very busy and I flew out of range for comms. without him ever handing me off. I kept the trans. code and later just called the next freq. and she took the check-in as though she was expecting it. It was not busy so I asked her what I should have done...

    2B3 Parlin field

Landed there in Aug, 2013 on way through. Stopped there because of fuel price and discovered a great airport. The wife and I rode the bikes into town for some food and really enjoyed the place and the people! I will try stop there again this August but this time just to enjoy the place again.

St. Louis to Billings, Montana in a PA28-140

I have stopped at both KRAP and KGCC for fuel/break stops several times flying from SE S. Dak. to Billings or Helena. Departing KRAP and going to direct to next stop is not a problem. I fly a warrior, not much more performance than a 140. The Black Hills are not that high of terrain. I usually...

New 56 year old beginning pilot.....

I started training at 59. We have 8 children spread all over so I finally had an excuse to get a plane. Before starting I read this forum and the aopa one for a year or more, read the free flying manuals from the faa website, and a lot of other online research. Never did any ground school--used...

    Fedex Knows All!

Same thing as the OP but different questions. The one that really suprised me was: What is the serial number of your PA28-151?!! I didn't know it but I knew it started with the year of mfg. and only one of the choice had that so I got it that way. Another was "Where does this relative/friend...

    Cherokee drivers

I use it often for taking photos. My camera is a little compact one. My rule is: Wrist strap around wrist before getting the camera near the opening. In flight there is quite an airflow going out the hole!

Do you abide by cloud clearance mins when VFR?

There are times/places where you can accurately measure the distance between clouds. Around here the roads are laid out in a 1 mile grid and you can see how far the clouds are apart by looking at their shadows. It has always amazed me at how much farther apart they are than what I would...

I met the King and Queen of Aviation today.

Their plane parked next to my Warrior on the ramp at Omaha about a month ago when I was there to pick up my wife. Tail number was N10F. Exchanged a few comments with John as we were preflighting to leave.
