    Don't be this guy...

"Had to be an east river COB, because nobody from west river would act that way ..." Don't know of any COB east river either. Maybe the "South Dakota" part was wrong.

Canadian border closed, ok to overfly?

"But Homeland Security is probably still going to require an eAPIS and a transponder code assignment I suspect." Not for overflight. Unless I've been doing it illegally.

    Unusual amp indication

I have a 76 warrior. I have had the exact symptoms more than once. The first time it eventually led to the failure of the alternator. When it was replaced it disappeared... for a while. It did return. I messed with the wires going to the regulator and disappeared again... for a while. Then on a...

    Cold Cranking

My warrior does that same thing when it is cold out. Pumping the throttle in the lower end of its range keeps it going. I think it just needs more fuel in order to evaporate enough to keep it running in the cold.

    Wearing shoes in the house

Our house: Clean enough to be healthy. Dirty enough to be comfortable. Not my original saying, saw it on the wall in someones home once. I liked it.

Are the dairy cows on strike?

Our community used to made up of over 50% small dairy farmers. Milk prices starting dropping some years ago and now there are none left. Zero. Unable to compete with the huge dairies, of which there are few or none in this area. (SE S. Dak.)

    Coast to Coast XC?

So. Dak. to AK (Fairbanks) 3 times (Daughter there). SD to Prince Edward Island 3 times (daughter there too). So that's farther than from coast to coast but not close in time frame. Ak was 4 days with a weather stopover every time. PEI was usually 2 days.

    Two VFR ATC questions-

Zeldman in post #18: "when flying VFR in an easterly direction above 3000AGL to fly at even altitudes minus 500 feet....westerly heading odd altitudes minus 500 feet." I guess I've been doing it wrong for 10 years! I use even+5 going west and odd+5 going east. edit: Ooops! I see he said MINUS...

    an unusual medical exam?

Because my father died from prostate cancer I always requested the DRE with my flight physicals. Never found anything that way. I also had my PSA tested each year and it kept slowly rising. Then it jumped 3 points to 10 point something so I had a biopsy and it was positive. So in my case the PSA...

    Best Chandler, AZ airport?

I've used Stellar Air Park (P19) a few times. They welcomed transients and had very reasonable tie down fees and fuel price. Read the rules. I haven't been there for a couple years so you may want to call them first. I don't know how a rental car would work there--maybe a rental service that...

I messed up - night approach

If you want all of your take-off/landings to count for currency, even the take-off must be before civil twilight. So if you leave your destination xc airport before civil twilight you need to do 3 take-offs as well as full-stop landings after that.

Move date/time of post to header?

Agree that top would be better. Makes a difference on longer posts.

Find A Pilot / Aircraft Owner

You can check the phone book (online) www.dexpages.com (free) I use it often but mostly for local numbers. I don't know how well it covers the whole US.

    PA28 161 111 fuel pressure at max

In my PA28 (1977 Warrior) at startup the reading would go to max but as the engine warmed up it would come back down. Mechanic could not figure out why that should happen. It continued to stay at max longer as time went by. Replacing the fuel pump eliminated the problem. My pressure gauge is...

    North to Alaska

I have flown from So. Dak. to Fairbanks and back 3 times. (Daughter at Fairbanks) We basically followed the AlCan but did cut some corners. Each time it was in July or August. On one of those trips we could have made it in 2 days if weather had permitted. We have always had weather delays and we...

    When you sell a plane.

Before I went to pick up my plane when I bought it I asked the prev. owner if full fuel tanks were included. He said "Of course" as if that was common practice.

Going from a 172 to a Warrior II

As said in the prev. post the warriors do NOT have a direct coupled rudder/nose wheel. The posters who said that probably have experience with older 140 or 180s. Even if you continue to hold the rudder on a crosswind landing the nose wheel immediately pulls straight to the direction of travel...

Flying west in an NA single

I have a 160hp Warrior and have had no problem with the mountain passes. In Feb. I took off in the AM from Greeley and flew west over Estes Park and then over Rocky Mountain NP and followed the CO River to the west end of Colo. I had a good day for it. Winds were calm w/ clear skies and I even...
