    Ipad / Foreflight questions............

I use what I already had - Air 2 without cellular/internal GPS. I bought a PiFly external box that sits on the dash and runs off a USB plug in the cigarette lighter. The upside to this is that I also get ADSB-in traffic on ForeFlight.

    Help identifying Wind Noise PA28-140

It could be something like a fresh air vent or the vent window seal, probably on the left side of the fuselage. Sounds like air being forced through a very small opening.

    When dreams come true... (long)

This is great! I hope to get to a point where I can stop practicing law and fly for a living. I think I would like to fly medevac helicopters.

    Lost my confidence :(

I have the same plane and seatbelt arrangement - got some sheepskin seat belt covers from Amazon and they are a big help. Flying is a very perishable skill. It is a very different environment from everyday life. When in doubt, go up with an instructor. I recently couldn't fly for over a month...

    Getting Ready to Solo

If you are 16 I would not recommend looking for advice on a forum like this. It is hard to separate the helpful advice from the non-helpful. Listen to your dad and the instructor. Also read books like "Stick and Rudder."

    Anybody had disk surgery?

I suggest you get in touch with some well respected accident and Workers comp lawyers in your area and ask about doctors. They will have seen a lot of outcomes from various doctors.

    Newbie

Carlos, risk management is a factor in any pursuit. you are not the first pilot to worry about the risk! I suggest you talk about these issues with a trusted flight instructor. Most fatal accidents share common basic causes, and if you practice self-discipline you can avoid them.

Buying a 150 to get PPL, few questions

There is an intangible benefit to having your own plane. I would tie out a $13k 150 and buy a nice custom cover from Bruce's.

Any advice for a pilot who wants to kick the cigs?

Great job! Now that you know you can quit smoking, you can do anything you set your mind to.

    Rag and tube structure

You would have to know how much material is being removed per sand-blast, and what thickness provides a reasonable margin against failure.

Flew Long Solo Cross Country Yesterday

Did mine last Saturday. Perfect weather. CUB - GRD - AQX - CUB. 208nm. About two hours flight time in the Cherokee 140. Being slow does make it easier to rack up the hours. In our area, the best landmarks are lakes and airports, of which there are many large examples on my route. My VOR is...

Buying a 150 to get PPL, few questions

I bought a Cherokee 140 and love having my own plane. Like you I've had power toys before too. It's pretty much the same thing. Flight instructors, especially the older ones, tend to be pretty knowledgeable about airplanes. I'd find an instructor you like, who owns or is a partner in a plane...
