So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Well I've been rogue for a while, trying to get back into things and be more active on here/flying. I moved to Atlanta in July and haven't flown since. Where I previously lived I had easy access to a flying club with really affordable rates. I need to find a flying club in the Atlanta area and...

    172P crash at my field

The main maintenance hangar is where the security camera is mounted to. If you went to the right of the shell sign it is an access road that runs around the maintenance hangar. Behind the Cessna on the ground (not the wrecked one) are the main fuel tanks for refilling the JET A truck. There are...

    172P crash at my field

 I had the volume muted when I first watched it. You really have to strain to hear it but that is hilarious. I have an idea of who it could be.

    172P crash at my field

Went to my home field, KCEU, yesterday and flew N733VS in some nice crosswind conditions. Needed some practice and was quite happy with my performance. Tied up the airplane after logging an hour and then looked over to the end of the ramp and saw this mess. Did some digging and found the...

Ipad mini vs Apple iphone Xr

I love the mini 4. I think it is the perfect size for using it in flight. I also like having two separate devices. Forgot to charge the Ipad? I have my phone as a back up. Left my phone sitting on the seat in the plane in the sun for 2 hours and it overheat and needs a while to cool off? No...

    Helicopter pilot schools and advice

I have 0 rotor wing experience, so I can't answer many of your questions. I do think it would be a waste of time to get your PPL ASEL and then move into rotor if you are planning on going commercial. One common thing I do see posted on boards by helicopter pilots is that the training is...

Employees of Ring (Amazon) are watching you

My friend works for a company that monitors social media and reports their findings to politicians who are paying for your data. The things they know are extremely alarming. I wanted to get an Alexa, but the tinfoil hat wearer inside of me is against it. But then again I have an Iphone in my...

Congrats! It was one of the best feelings I have ever had. Lots of satisfaction in receiving that certificate.

Avonics Headset for the Private Student Pilot

That is exactly what I did. Never have regretted the decision. I have the Bose A20. I do wish I tried some others but no one I knew at my airport uses anything other than DCs or Bose. Bluetooth is super handy for those cross countries once you are out of initial training. When I fly with my...

Back to Basics - Coordinated Flight

We called them rudder coordination exercises, Dutch Roll has another meaning in aviation and is often misused. But from the article posted above: "How do you know your flight controls are coordinated? Because the airplane’s nose doesn’t move as it rolls alternately between right and left...

Newly graduated DPT wants part time work; and got it

I can agree on that from a public school view point. They changed our retirement figures and I would be working close to 45+ years to get full retirement. I believe I would end up in prison if I stayed a public school teacher for that long. But as far as your Nephew.. I've got no advice for...

    Southeast Pre-Christmas Meet-up (Runway Cafe @ GMU) 12/15

Yeah go figure. I went ahead and got 1.5 in yesterday and it was beautiful. 10g15 right down the runway. Practiced emergency procedures and did a few power off 180s. Wish I went to get a burger instead though.

    Southeast Pre-Christmas Meet-up (Runway Cafe @ GMU) 12/15

Just going by the hourly it looks like I might be able to get a quick flight from Clemson to Greenville in for lunch. Will start looking at the charts later today and make a game time decision tomorrow.

For Sale PA-28 Copper Battery Cables new in box

I’ve got a new in box set of replacement copper battery cables from American Aviation brokerage and Leasing. They were purchased by my cousin a long time ago for his Cherokee and he sold the airplane and never used them. The STC was approved in 1987, no idea when the cables were purchased. They...
