Just passed my instrument written. 92%

I used a technique that I learned studying for a different subject. Every morning leading up to the test, I sat down an wrote out a "cheat sheet." VFR Cloud clearances, the 1-2-3 rule, IFR cruising altitudes, holding pattern speed limits, oxygen requirements, etc. When I got to the test, the...

Do I need to do a PT in this case?

I've been around here long enough to know I might get a pummeling just for asking the question. I still appreciate all the comments. I learn something from all of them.

Do I need to do a PT in this case?

I just made up the scenario while reviewing local approaches. I wanted to be sure I understood this one correctly. I'm still not entirely sure if i have to fly all the way to the VOR or not. I am now quite sure I need to make the course reversal.

Do I need to do a PT in this case?

In the VOR approach for KSYI, if I'm coming in from the North on a heading of 180: Cleared for the approach. Not on vectors. 1. Do I need to pass over the SYI VOR first? 2. Do I always have to do the course reversal?

    3-Day IFR Adventure

I got 8 hours of actual. Many times we asked for altitude changes to get up into the clouds. The controllers in FL were extremely busy but amazingly accommodating. One of the things I learned was to ask for what you want. On two occasions we asked for a heading change to stay within gliding...

    Pattern Entry Method

I never know how to approach an airport when my route/wind take me straight-in. While I prefer landing straight-in, It makes me feel like a bad citizen of the non-towered club. A straight-in to the upwind and around-the-horn could be a nice substitution. Thoughts?

Possibly buying first airplane what are the steps?

The last step is to come back here and let us know how it went. So many of these threads end as cliffhangers. It would be much appreciated.

    VFR turned MVFR turned IMC

Terrific video. Keep them coming. It made me happy to hear your ATC co-pilot/fiance said things like "with you at 3,300" and "looking for traffic." I thought these faux pas drove controllers mad? I'll feel a lot less guilty the next time I utter "with you."

N/A How many children are enough?

One is fine as long as you equip it with a parachute. Many are more comfortable with two at night or when in the mountains.
