    Buying plane with damage history

I’ve bought two planes and both had some damage history. With the age of most the planes we are buying, zero damage history almost makes me more suspicious than documented damage and repair that have been in operation since. A good prebuy and document inspection should calm you in these instances.

A fly-in home just went on the market a few doors down the runway

With the University shutting down/selling off the Chapel Hill airport, I’m surprised it was so low priced as well.

Best Plane for 150-200 NM Trips

When I had my Tiger, I folded down the seats after Hurricane Michael crushed the gulf. Was able to fly full fuel, two large generators, two pole gas chain saws, etc. down there to help out. One Cheetah owner I know pulled the seats day one of ownership and never looked back. While I had a Tiger...

    Boost Oxygen

Very interesting and a factor for sure. Why would it freeze in a warm cockpit?

    9A0 - Dahlonega, Georgia

We used to live 30 minutes from there. Never landed there but there are several good restaurants (Smiths seemed like a tourist trap but the food is solid too). Fun shops and quaint place. I’m gonna have fly back there now.

    Oconee or Pickens Co. SC

CEU is a cool airport. I’ve never faced fees there. Should be quiet as the game is in Charlotte. Check the traffic patterns; there is a private grass strip super close to CEU. I’ve landed at Pickens but have zero memory regarding it. As for the game, Go Dawgs! Dawgs on Top! GATA!

    airplane as an investment..different take

Owning a plane is an investment; I’m investing in my mental health. Financially smart? No, no, no. I love flying and I’ll give a portion of my retirement up to enjoy it now. I can’t justify the expenses and certainly try to mitigate them. It is a losing scenario, but a winning lifestyle...

Would it siphon the entire tank?

I’ve flown both a Tiger and Bonanza V tail with the cap off. Lost very minimal fuel on both.

Why do they always call me Skyhawk?

For a year, every time I landed at a towered field in Florida, a controller would call my Grumman Tiger, “Experimental NXXX”. I jokingly announced Certified Tiger NXXX”. It changed nothing. I think the reply above is most important that it is irrelevant unless they are calling your Citation Skyhawk.

Flying in for GA Tech game?

That’s because they never expect to win. A UGA game at Tech normally has more UGA fans than Tech. Back to the subject, PDK is legitimately kind to GA. They surely prefer big iron, but so much better than others.

    Flights for Bacon

Ha! That’s misguided health according to some. To each his own, but I’ve added 58 pounds of useful load (I’ve lost 58 lbs) eating a mostly animal based diet, low carbs and more fat this year…. I’m no doctor so I’ll skip the “health” debate except to state my reduced weight and 75% drop in BP...

    Aircraft with damage history.

Hard to find affordable vintage planes with no damage history. I'm in a '58 that has had two gear collapses (once per side). Neither happened in the last three decades, reputable repairs were made and it sailed through a thorough pretty and annual from Beech IAs. As everyone is saying, it...
