    Back in the saddle...

Well... I should’ve said I straddled the centerline on touchdown, just a little too crabbed.

    Back in the saddle...

Yeah, I didn’t have auto pilot checks on my old checklists. And a simple altimeter change now takes 3 instruments and about 6 steps.

    Back in the saddle...

After nearly 28 years, I've decided to get back into the cockpit. Had my first BFR “lesson” yesterday and it felt pretty good. Flying around Los Angeles is a lot different these days and I felt a bit behind the curve in knowing my boundaries around the B and D airspace and flying in a cockpit...

    Any Flight Bag advice?

I would never. Which reminds me, what is a better single to fly, a Cessna or a Piper? ;)

    Any Flight Bag advice?

Jeez, lighten up, people. If you can’t ask a simple question regarding what people are using, what’s the point of these boards?

    Any Flight Bag advice?

Random question... I dusted off my 30 year old leather flight bags only to discover they were disintegrating in my hands. Any thoughts on a good replacement bag? Thanks in advance!

To Give, or Not to Give... the MedXpress Number

As the OP, figured I would give an update: I printed out my MedXPress app and handed it to the AME and asked if he had 30 seconds to look it over to see if anything stood out that might be problematic. He was happy to do so and, with supporting letters in hand from doctor visits, said nothing...

To Give, or Not to Give... the MedXpress Number

Wait... If there are any questions at all, like the AME wants to see a letter from your Chiropractor that your back is okay, then they HAVE to defer you right away? There is no... "Email me a letter from your doc tomorrow and then I'll submit and issue?"

To Give, or Not to Give... the MedXpress Number

    Oops. Sorry, yes, AME

    Avg time for ME rating?

Yup. My plan is to get my IR and SE commercial and probably CFI. Eventually hopping back into a twin and getting my ME commercial.:)

To Give, or Not to Give... the MedXpress Number

Ok, thanks. Don't have anything I'm aware of. Just doing a lot of reading and people saying unless you're sure, then withhold. Thanks, @Clip4

To Give, or Not to Give... the MedXpress Number

What is the current practice when applying for your first medical (in many years)? I've heard people suggest withholding the application number from the AME until you are sure you're going to pass. Is this a standard thing? Won't the doctor think it's unusual/get put off that he has to examine...

    Avg time for ME rating?

Thanks for the explanation, @denverpilot. I probably won't get my instrument in the twin, thus the reason I was wondering if the IR carries forward to a twin if earned in a single. I'll check out the tables per your suggestion.

    Avg time for ME rating?

Right. However I’m ME rated (VFR) and I was under the impression that a new IR would not transfer to my ME rating — I’d have to shoot some approaches in a twin with an examiner.

    Tales of a Rusty Pilot

I'm about to shake the rust off as well. Have about 160 hours and my SE and ME rating, but haven't flown in 28 years. Considering a midlife career change and thinking I might still be able to chase my childhood dream of flying for the airlines. At 48, not sure the majors are a possibility, but...

    Disability Question

I had foot surgery about 2 years ago and sinus surgery earlier this year. Both times I had temporary disability payments because of my "day job" for about a month each. Obviously I need to answer "yes" on the Medxpress form for my physical for having ever received disability payments, but do I...

    Avg time for ME rating?

Hmm. Thought I could've gotten my ME instrument sign off the same time as my ME commercial if I already had the ratings in a single. Guess it's a good time to be an examiner.

    Avg time for ME rating?

But if going for a commercial rating, I'd need it in both SE and ME, right? That's why I was wondering if it was possible (better?) to get my commercial ME and instrument ME on the same check ride.

    Avg time for ME rating?

I've got my SE and ME, but haven't flown in many years. Going to get my SE current, then work on an IFR rating. If I then get my commercial, I would essentially need 2 check rides, correct (one for SE and one for ME)? If so, would I be able to add the IFR to my ME during the commercial check ride?
