Meaning of ATC flashing white signal

When studying for various FAA exams, I used to create different scenarios to remember the light signals. The one I came up with for the flashing white light is if you lose radios after taxing for departure. Say you do your run-up and then contact tower for clearance to takeoff and the radios...

    Flying The Aztec

Thanks for all the comments. Very much looking forward to flying Aztec and getting my ME! Sounds like the only negative is the fuel burn for the speeds you get however I will be renting wet, so that won't be a factor. Fyi, they rent it at $285 an hour. From the ownership costs I've see posted by...

    Flying The Aztec

GRG55, what kind of cruise speeds do you get in your Aztec? The numbers someone told me at the the FBO seem awfully low (150-155) in relation to the POH. I realize planes rarely get the book numbers but we are talking a 20 knot difference.

    Flying The Aztec

I am about to start multi engine training in a Piper Aztec F. For anyone familiar with the aircraft, I'm looking for some pireps on flying it. Currently, my instructor has me reviewing the POH with a particular emphasis on emergency procedures. Hope to start flying in a week or two.

    Skyrunner Crash

Yea, but at least in the Icon you can look cool up to impact. At no point in that video were those guys looking cool.

    Good for Piper

Piper selling 152 planes creates confusion, lol.

Crash this AM at SEE, 2 fatalities

From the video, looks like it might of been a stall, recovery at low altitude and then a secondary stall.

Want to see just how busy DFW airspace is?

I know this airspace well from multiple FAA written exams. They sure do like this area for testing purposes, lol.

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

That's a whole lot of nonsense right there. Seriously, get over yourself.

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

You can't just say it's a ME rating, that's over simplistic in this context. You can add a ME without instrument privileges i.e. VFR only, even if you have an instrument rating. Same for the commercial. You have to let the DPE know what you want and then he/she will test accordingly so if I tell...

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

Thanks Z06, so I actually got that one correct on the exam  The test had a few other questions about CFI vs CFII authority in regard to Private Pilot and Instrument Training. For some reason none of this was covered in my Gleim course.

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

Ok, you're just F...ing with me now, right, lol. (a.) CFI or (b) CFI + CFII.

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

There is no need to assume, from my first post "It essentially asked whether a MEI with only a CFI certificate can endorse his student to get the instrument add on with the ME rating?" Maybe your reading comprehension instead of my terminology was the real issue here.

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

Maybe I am not being clear but it looks like everyone is saying you must have the CFII. Just for clarity sake, I reworded the question to be more precise. As an MEI I can teach and endorse a student to take the practical test to get their ME. If that student has an instrument rating already...

Must a MEI be a CFII to qualify his student to get the instrument add on?

Just took the FIA today and ran across a question that wasn't covered in my study material. It essentially asked whether a MEI with only a CFI certificate can endorse his student to get the instrument add on with the ME rating? I looked up the regulations and the most relevant section I came up...

Just curious on your opinion ... what next after PPL?

Instrument rating really adds a lot to your flying skills and makes your license much more useful. That being said, after doing all that work getting your private it would be perfectly understandable if you wanted to do something you consider fun like tailwheel or glider training.

10 Americans Killed in Costa Rica Plane Crash

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

I thought the alternative takeoff minimums were applicable to 91 ops but Velocity's post above indicates that they are only advisory in nature. Not once did my CFI during IFR training or the DPE during my check ride mention that and I spent a decent amount of time on ODPs with both.
