    Weight and balance questions

If you average out all 4 people going to be in the plane it's 175. I wouldn't have asked this if I (the pilot, and also the smallest person) could sit in the back lol.

    Weight and balance questions

Thanks for the responses everyone. The line in question is the rear passenger. It stops at 340, my 2 people would be 350. Granted I need to run all the other numbers to confirm I'm still in CG, but I wanted to double check my thoughts before doing too much math I don't have foreflight to do my...

    Weight and balance questions

Attached is a picture of the loading graph to figure out the moment of our arrow. My question is: where the diagonal lines stop, is that the maximum amount of weight allowed in that particular area? Or can you extended those lines provided a) it's not specifically prohibited (like in the...

Long shot - who needs a dog? (North Georgia)

Bummer, my grandparents are looking for a yellow or black lab and I got excited when I saw the title! Best of luck finding them homes!

Renting some different planes lately and thought I would share local rates

The da-40 with g1000 and the gfc autopilot around me rents for like 125 or 135 dry. I forget which. Only flew it a handful of hours just for kicks and giggles. Edit to add this diamond has a constant speed prop. I still think it's only 180 horse though? Don't quote me on any of my numbers.

Discussions with my dad: what plane would work?

The place where we would put the strip is very open. There's 2,000 ft of clear space. One direction goes towards another one of our barns. Biggest thing there is the power lines but the groundhogs keep digging around the poles. If they ever get knocked down we will see about running a line...

Discussions with my dad: what plane would work?

Was sitting at the aiport last night just relaxing and reading the instructors manual from the faa and (what I think was) a husky was doing some work in the patter. I think he might have been off the ground and at least 50 agl in less than 500 feet. Maybe that's just me exagerating? Any husky...

Discussions with my dad: what plane would work?

Sit right around 700-800 msl. So very low. There's a 172 that just popped up for sale at the airport for 15,000.... it looks very tempting. If only I had our runway built and we're finished with my commercial/cfi/cfii.

    LOP IO-360

Question for you guys: Our IO-360 C1C just has the little egt gauge with the pilot move able needle. How do you recommend I lean it most effectively? The standard 'lean till rough, then enriched slightly'? Or some other fashion? Sorry for the slight thread hijack!

Airplane partnerships, why so hard to find?

The arrow I'm partnered in has been in partnerships since the early 90's. People have come in and out as they please (some at the price they wanted, some not.) Ask some cfi's on the field, or talk to some of the mechanics, they might know of some currently available partnerships.

    maybe I'm crazy.....

I was made to call before every lesson. Since we're in the DC SFRA it flows off the tongue easy to say "vfr/ifr pilot familiar with the DC SFRA rules and procedures looking for for wx brief for....." and go into all the info they need.

Fatal crash at UNV (state college, pa)

So because there was a post crash fire is it safe to *assume* there was plenty of fuel? *I use the term assume very lightly here. Not sure if speculate is a better term or not.

10 Day Journey in a C172 departing from Boston. Where to go?

Consider doing the DC SFRA teaining before you leave, the area covers a lot of ground! My home airport sits right on the edge, so it's required but it's an easy course. The airport at Ocean city, md is fun. If you depart off the right runway you fly over the ocean a little. That's where we did...

Discussions with my dad: what plane would work?

Since dad and I have been stuck in the milking parlor together a lot lately we've run out of things to discuss, so we start talking about planes and how fun it would be to get a grass strip on the farm, we have a great place where we can get 2,000 ft. Easy. I'm the first person in my family to...

Fatal crash at UNV (state college, pa)

http://onwardstate.com/2016/06/16/small-plane-crashes-at-university-park-airport/ Piper Navajo carrying two people crashed yesterday morning. Article says the tower saw smoke coming out and couldn't get them to talk. Makes me think maybe an electrical fire? Sad even none the less with both...
