    Choosing my first plane

I will put a plug in for the Mooney. It was my first airplane and I owned it for four years. I had an f model, 200 horse. 150 knots on 9 gallons an hour. Nearly 1100 pound useful load and a blast to fly. Not everyone likes the seating position. It's a lot like a Corvette. Personally, I think...

    Nav lights

What is the voltage indicating? At 14v the nav lights draw 7.5A. If your voltage drops, it may be enough to blow the fuse. I would also use an ohmmeter to check if there is a small current leak on any branch of the circuit. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    Buying a HANGAR?

Sounds like a good investment. If you ever sell the plane, you could rent the hanger and make $$$$ Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    Value of marker beacon

IMHO, they provide zero useful information. No, I would not install or maintain one. I would probably leave it alone if it's working unless I was doing a totally panel redo; then it would go the way of the ADF. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    Fiber lites instrument lighting

No pics of the install Very easy though. Sandwich the light rings between the panel and instrument. Fiber-optic lines run to a a single led for three rings if I remember correctly. Wire in the pwm and you're done. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Winter Oil? Do you guys switch to a "Lighter" Oil in the winter?

Also, don't forget to switch to winter air in your tires. Summer air does not have the spec to handle harsh winter conditions. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Winter Oil? Do you guys switch to a "Lighter" Oil in the winter?

I switch to three-in-one machine oil in the winter time. I also add three quarts of automotive antifreeze to keep the oil from freezing. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

    Cold weather starting

While pulling my prop through backward on my right engine, I get a strange 'geared' sound that the left one does not make. I am thinking this is a vacuum pump. Anyway, I don't like the sound, so it doesn't get pulled backward. I rarely pull the props though, but in the cold weather she is a...

Pulling the Prop through by Hand

I have noticed while pulling my right prop backward, it makes a noise I don't like; like a protesting pump. I am now thinking that is the vacuum pump. The left engine does not do it. I guess I will be watching the right vacuum pump closely. I am not in the habit of pulling the props through...
