First Tailwheel flight + Back to Basics with POA Pilot

Looks like fun. A tailwheel landing is not complete until: The plane is on the ground, tied down securely, the pilot drives home, and sits in the barcalounger with a cold frosty malted beverage in hand. Then, the TW landing is complete.

How do you determine market value for a FSBO without signing up with a realtor

If I may, I'm going to butt myself in again, because you may be looking at many thousands spent that you don't need to spend. The new rules from the lawsuit over commissions is becoming hard to untangle. To summarize, there's no longer any kind of lock, guarantee, or even a unspoken rule on...

    Absolutely crazy Bo fuel tanks

The 'one tank' solution in the older Bo would be fuel critical after an hour in the air. It was only 20gal, with 17.6 useable. I've drained each tank so when I refill I know exactly how much I have avail until dry. The right wing tank holds 20.6, the left wing tank holds 20.7(I drained it by the...

How do you determine market value for a FSBO without signing up with a realtor

Well, here's how I see it, and I'm glad I'm in the minority on this(owning a LOT of RE across the nation). I get at least 50 unsolicited scam/sales/robo calls and texts every month from RE 'buyers' wanting to engage me in commerce in direct violation of the strict TCPA. They are - relentless...

How do you determine market value for a FSBO without signing up with a realtor

Almost any decent sellers agent will come in and give a CMA for free. You don't have to sign anything to talk with an agent. Between an agent, and zillow and Trulia, redfin jumble all the est together, add $40,000 to whatever they come up with and make sure your price ends in '9'.

    Absolutely crazy Bo fuel tanks

Making it even more funner, all the switches are polished alum, and they run in sequence right across the lower panel. Plus, the gear and flap switches look - identical! I was feeding from aux, and monitoring right one time, and man I thought I was getting great fuel econ! The gauge...

    scream

Unfortunately, for years I had three different phones. Not a humble-brag. Corp assigned phone for work exclusive, phone for my rentals(didn't always carry or answer) and personal. Three carriers too, just to make it extra goofy. The rental phone was one of the pay-per-month and not associated to...

Continental GO-300 Engine Cylinder #2 not starting

I'm not sure if it's covered with 'balance tube and rams horn'. There are a set of boots on the intake runners. If there is a leak at the boot, or the clamp the engine will run too lean at idle to fire, and then will pick up when the MP goes up. This is very dangerous, but if you take off the...

Why are people still wearing masks?

I guess I want to answer that I don't care if people wear masks. But - I don't want taxpayers saddled with more debt, so go buy and wear a mask and don't put the burden on all of us who aren't interested, and never were interested in wearing them. My argument against mask wearing is exclusively...

    scream

It's not just the commercial market. I had the displeasure of renewing my DL last week. I went in person to the DL office and filled out the form. Which had BOTH SSN and cell phone required information. I filled out neither. When my time came at the desk, they told me to fill them out. I asked...

    scream

I'm not going to blame the victim here, but when 'porting' to a new carrier, it's done thusly: Contact the NEW carrier and establish a service with them, tell them on initial contact you will be "porting" an existing phone number from another carrier. They will ask for the number to be ported...

Why are people still wearing masks?

Not an immunologist and didn't stay at Holiday Inn last night. I'll just leave this thought bomb here; https://www.medindia.net/news/healthwatch/peanut-allergies-in-children-lessons-learned-from-two-decades-217601-1.htm

    Hangar Monthly Rent

I don't rent, I own. My prop taxes are $1105/year. I rent out a home on the airport property and earn $1300/month. So, I basically make money each year on my hangar. However, the up front investment was non-zero of course.

    Absolutely crazy Bo fuel tanks

The Bonanza(and I think all low wing?) are required to restart the engine in flight with a tank run dry to pass type certification. The immediate thing to do as a memory item if the engine dies is switch to the left tank. If the left tank is in use, switch to the right tank. My process which...

Why are people still wearing masks?

If you like a mask, wear one. If you don't like a mask don't wear one. If you want to carry a weapon, carry one. If you don't want to carry, don't. But - do NOT tell others they can't wear - either. Recall, one of them is actually an inalienable right.

    Absolutely crazy Bo fuel tanks

I've owned and flown Bo's for many years. I have a lot to add to this position but the article is baselessly incorrect. EVERY Bonanza pilot is drilled into his/her skull that one always, always, always takes off on the left tank(unless it is empty for some reason). And - concomitantly should in...

Why are people still wearing masks?

I wouldn't care either way if someone wants to wear a mask, as long as I wasn't required by fed tax law to subsidize their decision. Based on an 'inconclusive' report of efficacy.

Why are people still wearing masks?

I lived in Japan in the 80s, and visited other SE Asian nations. It wasn't rare to see people in public, specifically on the subway or bus wearing a mask if they were not feeling well. As for mask wearing, the best that can be said is that the results of mask wearing slowing the spread of a...

    O-300 Advice

Your O-300-D is one of the types that has a harmonically balanced crankshaft, with 5th and 6th order crank dampeners. (all O-300's have them) This gives the bottom end much longer lifespan than the earlier engine without crank dampers, and makes the crank and cases pretty indestructible. It's...

    Balloon Ride in NM, recommendations?

No reason to go up to Los Alamos. The Natl lab tours only happen twice per year, and there's little or nothing to see if you just drive through. However, it's a nice drive into the Jemez mtns, but there are a lot of nice drives in NM. Taos - is a spithole. Noisy, dusty, commercial, and...
