    Medical vs Aviation O2 systems?

    > "Perhaps you're thinking of the medical units, but failing to qualify your comment?" This question implies that the Inogen Aviator is not simply a re-badged medical unit. Is that not the case?

    Question for airplane owners

One just went for 30K on eBay! https://tinyurl.com/y7r2vlkk I only found out about it after it was gone or would have posted earlier. The cowling looks a little odd on this one. And that boat anchor prop needs to go on a Turbo Arrow or something equally ordinary. Still . . . what an...

Why do so many people say "rudders"?

With postings I invariably catch the drift when irony or humor is intended. I've never found it difficult. In writing posts with twists like this I've found many readers are incapable of getting it. This has discouraged me from even trying to become a famous writer.

Premier 1 driver reported to FAA by "pilot"

I've got no idea what Premier Driver did but fell into this thread and I'm driven to contribute my own extraordinarily valuable take on things. Calling clear of the runway, especially at uncontrolled fields, is good procedure in my humble . . . .

    Medical vs Aviation O2 systems?

This subject is a perennial, and rightly so. Flying with oxygen means no headaches, increased vision especially at night, clearer thinking, ability to top the weather, depending on how high your plane can go. I'm chiming in this time to note that anyone that has been considering one of the...

    For non-certificated aircraft unfortunately

Poor choice of titles. I realized later that LSA's are certificated aircraft, whether S-LSA's or E-LSA's. So, I guess one can't put one in an LSA - but I know little on this subject. There may be a way. Meanwhile, it's certainly usable on all the Experimentals out there. I recommend you...

    Check your O2 (Covid-19 related)

My $30 Chinese oximeter from eBay, 14 years old, is still fine.

    Check your O2 (Covid-19 related)

    > "Values under 90 percent are considered low." Slight curve on the topic but this reminds me . . . for anyone (like me) that's had one of these neato little oxygen concentrators that run on 12 volts and on battery . . . to use one of them to replace the oxygen bottle in the plane . . . I've...

    Garmin Aera 760 released

Doesn't the 660 have approaches as well? I've had the understanding the approaches are available to pattern altitude. It's been awhile since I've gone over the specs on the 660 - I still plan on getting one. I might be thinking that they are part of Garmin's FliteCharts . . . or I may be...

Do you really understand Wing lift?

    > "How does the molecule above the wing know, or care, what the molecule under the wing is doing?" Entanglement of course.

Do you really understand Wing lift?

Congratulations everyone . . . this is the first time I've seen a thread on this subject not get bogged down by those who drank the Bernouilli kool-aid so long ago that it's become part of their DNA . . . an epigenitic adaptation. Langewische made things so clear in S&R, a book I'd read before...

Anyone know any local history about KCLR, Calipatria California

Landed there in 1971 to fill up a Turbo Aztec before heading south to Mexico. There was fuel available and dusters/sprayers parked on the ramp. It had a nice well-maintained runway. Salton Sea development was still sustaining retirement and vacation fantasies. That era is long over . . . but...

Lost radios today...looking for reliable handheld

    White Lightning

I was hanging around Ralph Wilcox's shop (Aerodyne, KSEE) in the 80's when the designers of this plane were doing their designing. Ralph was a pioneer in developing composites so I'm guessing that's what they were discussing. I didn't know until now just how far along that project went. Thanks.

    Garmin GDL 82 advice needed

Those are both great ideas. I've been thinking to mount the unit back in the fuselage however, not accessible in flight. Both of your suggestions would require that it be more accessible than I've been thinking. I'm still curious whether I could just turn it on or off from a panel switch...

    Garmin GDL 82 advice needed

That answers a question I had about the GDL-82. I'm thinking of putting it on a separate power switch in order to just have the transponder/encoder signal going out just for those times when I might want to do this for whatever reason. I was assuming the tx/encoder signal would pass through...

Doc Bruce - DIY Oxygen system

Here's a link to an old thread that may have something of interest in it. Since I posted last on this subject, Inogen has come out with a newer model, smaller even than their G4. https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/portable-o2-system.114633/#post-2622585 Also re pulse oximeters...

Max Conrad, and cross country altitudes

I used to exchange letters with Max when I was a teen-ager and into my 20's. I remember when Sally's book came out I remarked to him that she hadn't caught his spirit at all in the book. I recall I was quite harsh in my criticism . . . a lot harsher than I would be now I suppose. I knew Max...
