    Lazy 8's and visual reference

It's not a ground reference maneuver so I don't care about ground track in relation to the road, but it provides a handy way of knowing when you've reached 45, 90, 135, and 180. The road will be in your peripheral vision and be seen when scanning for traffic.

    172 Coast to Coast Ferry

I'm guesstimating around 30 hours of flight time KBOS-KSFO based on 125 kts at 6000 feet until Colorado avoiding the Great Lakes, terrain out west, special use airspace, and using today's winds aloft. Waiting for the right day could significantly reduce that time.

If you can't handle a crate you can still transport animals that don't need to be crated although having a helper ride along would be good.

Which aviation-related services will stop in the government shutdown?

There's a recreation area managed by the Forest Service near my house. They parked trucks and put up barricades to prevent people from driving into the parking lot over the weekend. Didn't prevent people from parking outside the boundary and walking in.

    Instrument check ride discontinuance

I'm somewhat puzzled by some of the posts in this thread as AD compliance was addressed during every checkride I've had. Usually I'd have a list generated by the IA in the maintenance logbook. Recurring ADs would be verified by me double checking the tach time in the aircraft and having that...
