    Defund police helicopters.

I've witnessed the Tucson PD helicopter launch within a minute after receiving reports from airline pilots getting lased. I listened to the tower frequency as they reported finding the guy.

    172 or 182 for PPL

I have lots of 172 and 182 hours. I much prefer the 182 for flying to the other side of the country from Arizona.

Stolen 172 crashed and arrest at Fullerton CA

I saw this and immediately thought of that incident from almost two years ago: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/student-pilot-with-2-hours-of-instruction-takes-off-and-crashes-c-172.111727/

Who here carries a handheld com transceiver?

Bought a Yaesu FTA-310 after losing almost all electrical power at night over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Would've made talking to the tower easier. I mostly use it when in a glider and want to communicate on a local CTAF or listen to an AWOS without changing the main radio's frequency.

    2019 Mooney down - DVT

Incidentally, according to a student training at Scottsdale, fuel sales at the FBO that serviced the Mooney were suspended until the appropriate people can verify there's no contamination. Just in case.

    Commercial Check Ride

Got mine prior to the checkride back when I used a manual E6B wheel. He picked one leg at random and verified it with his E6B. There was also a scenario with that cross country picking up and dropping off passengers and cargo at certain stops with some empty legs. I walked him through the trip...

What to do after PPL/how to save money or fly for free??

Join an amateur sports team and travel to tournaments. Bring teammates that share a common purpose with you for the trip. Collect pro-rata shares from them to reimburse you for direct expenses of the flight. Not free, but cheaper.

How big is the Copper State fly-in?

We displayed the AP sign in the windshield for general airport parking, but were directed to the static display area where many spectators and little kids were wandering around. I was glad a volunteer arrived in a golf cart to keep them back. One of the volunteers, a CFI I know, told me the...

How big is the Copper State fly-in?

I went yesterday and it seemed to have a lot of people for that size airport, but I've seen more at an military open house air show. I did see a lot of little kids there with their parents who were there for the air show. No temporary control tower though. I don't know if that would have helped...

Two instrument rated pilots, one under hood, in IMC, both log PIC?

I once was on an IFR flight plan in IMC. It was IMC because I was about only 10 feet below the base of the cloud deck which did not meet the minimum cloud clearance requirements for VMC. But, I could not log any instrument time because I could easily fly the plane by looking outside.

Two instrument rated pilots, one under hood, in IMC, both log PIC?

Yup. Doesn't matter if it's VMC or IMC outside the aircraft. Pilot flying would log PIC time as sole manipulator and log simulated instrument time (doesn't matter if it's hard IMC outside). Safety pilot would log either PIC (if acting as PIC) or SIC (if not) as a required crewmember. Pilot...

    Cheapest way to commercial?

Btw, if you're going to be flying a lot without a specific purpose other than building time then I suggest going to Pilots n Paws or another similar website and use your flights to help others.
