Provide ATIS code to ground for taxiback?

I'll contact clearance delivery at my home airport and specify the ATIS. I'm always asked by the controller after the clearance is delivered to confirm that I have information so-and-so even though I already provided it. I think it's a required habitual task to always ask.

PC 12 Down off of NC Coast

If I flew with opioids I'd feel weird too ;)

    Flight schools best rates

I noticed a jump in rates in 2002 when flight school owners began receiving their insurance renewal offers following 9/11.

Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024

I did that with my young nephew a few months ago for the annular eclipse. We probably would've had a better view from the ground with a telescope setup, but the trip was more of a memory-making adventure anyways. It also helped that the annular eclipse was about 30 degrees above the horizon. I...

Does a failed 2nd class Medical void my previous (and valid) 3rd class?

I wish I could still find it, but I came across a thread on reddit a few months ago about a pilot who went in for a second class. He had 20/25 vision in one eye. The AME issued a third class in the office so the pilot could keep flying. The pilot had to contact the regional flight surgeon for...

    Flight schools best rates

For historical comparisons this might be useful: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ The 45 per hr wet rate I paid for a C150 in 2002 is about 76 today. I think it would be difficult to find a decent C150 for under 100 today.

Will your heirs even want your logbooks?

If you become (in)famous or log something noteworthy you might get an aviation museum to accept your logbooks.

Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024

Rather than dealing with traffic on the ground getting to and from a viewing spot I was thinking of making use of general aviation to get to and from an airport in the path and watching from there. Could be a fun gathering. In my case I'm thinking Texas between Mexico and DFW. I've drawn a line...

    The Eyes Jim, The Eyes!

I suggest going to an ophthalmologist (M.D.) rather than an optometrist. And if you're not going back to the original AME then you'll probably have to just get a fresh exam with another.

    The Eyes Jim, The Eyes!

If you met the class 3 vision standards in the AME's office without corrective lenses then it seems like an error on his part adding that limitation. You might need corrective lenses to meet the class 2 standards and then it would be appropriate to include that limitation.

    Shortest Cross Country

Just a fly-in. It was 2008 or so. I think it was a T-34 gathering and we piggybacked on it.

Sometimes senders mix me up with someone named Teresa who apparently wears lingerie and receives Florida emergency disaster alerts.

    Email address decoding

I used to use the plus symbol a lot e.g. username+sketchyplace@whatever.whatever I have an occasional problem with others confusing lower-case L with I so I'll get weird emails like ones asking me what lingerie I enjoy wearing.

Will your heirs even want your logbooks?

I'd like to see Frank Borman's first logbook. He was in a Tucson-area flying club as a student pilot. I'd like to know which club.

Southern Airways Express C208 Lands on Highway Near Dulles

I flew as a passenger on another of their Caravans last year. Based on that experience I wasn't certain I wanted to rely on them if I really had to stick to a schedule.
