Awful pictures in For Sale ads - post your examples!

That Cub has been listed on eBay forever… starting price was $37000 as I recall! So hey, a $20k discount, you’d better snap that thing up!

Swearingen down, 1 killed, Manchester NH 12-10-21

Nope and nope. I flew canceled checks in 310s “back in the day”, early ‘90s for 2+ years and 2400 hours. All night, all weather, no copilot, no autopilot. Our Baron/Aerostar fleet were decently equipped, but for us 310 guys, it was a bare bones fleet. I recall two ships in particular that had...

    Yeah, it kinda is.

Video Trans Northern DC3 Engine Failure - Safe Return to Land

Agreed. I've never. Ever. Heard anyone mention unfeathering the failed prop before touching down. It sounds like a silly idea; why on earth would you want to reintroduce the drag that you got rid of by feathering the damn thing in the first place? But, I've only been flying multiengine ships...

    Paint my plane

Beautiful! And, I spy Mena... hangars look familiar. What paint shop if I may ask? I know there are several at MEZ, some good, some "meh". Curious as to how yours turned out. I have a crappy 10 year old paint job on my RV-8, will need a strip/paint one of these days...

    Air-to-Air Cessna T182RG

Beautiful shots, as usual! I do have one minor nit to pick though; the cowl flaps. They’re so honking big and wide open they’re a bit distracting… or am I weird in that my eye goes right to them? It’d just look a bit tidier to have them closed up a bit.

    Overflying your area radio calls?

Even passing through at 3500’, a “transiting” call is overkill. Class D towered airspace usually tops out at 2000-2500’ AGL… I’m thinking that if a tower guy doesn’t care about a crossover at 3500’, surely the pattern crowd down at 1000’ won’t care either. I certainly wouldn’t want to hear it...

    Overflying your area radio calls?

An absolute waste of time. Overflying at 5500? Who cares?

    What are you flying?

So far with a whopping 6 hours in the SB2C, I quite like it. It's a pretty nice flying ship with light ailerons and a bit heavier on pitch, but it's pretty well harmonized. It trims out fairly well, can go hands off for a few moments, but then it'll start to wander a bit. Has a big roomy...

    What are you flying?

I recognize those cruddy hangars and pavement; you based at Houston Hooks?

    Whoa... it's huge! Nice.

    What are you flying?

What am I flying... that depends. A work day? B-737. On days off, could be my RV-8 (owned) or T-28D (own 1/5 share). Could also be a T-6/SNJ. Maybe a Twin Beech. Or a C-47. B-17G perhaps. And I'm pretty new to flying the SB2C Helldiver. Nope, I don't own those, just lucky to be able to fly 'em...

    100th airport

Dude. You win. Seriously, can anyone top that? I'm impressed... but 16.7 hours in a 182, no thanks!

    172's are awesome

Awesome? Funny... more like "adequate", but they can be fun at times. I still remember my first solo flight in a 172, a 1978 N model; stepping up from a C-150, it felt huge, like an airliner. I hadn't flown a 172 in 15 years, but earlier this month I broke that dry spell and flew a '73 M. It...

    100th airport

I track airports landed in my RV-8 on a Google map; right now I'm at roughly 490 airports accrued over 15 years and 1850 hours of flying. I need to find a few more to bump it up to 500 just for giggles, plus I need to bag a landing in Nevada so I can mark all the Lower 48 states in my RV. But...

    Red Lodge, MT - KRED

I stopped in at Red Lodge last July for a quick overnight. It's a nice but small airport; I didn't see an actual FBO and the hangars all looked to be privately owned. There are maybe 8-10 tiedown spots along with self serve fuel and a primitive "pilot's lounge". I didn't try for a rental car...

    Catalina and basic pattern questions

Methinks the “thing” about Catalina is that it’s just a cool bucket list type experience; landing there isn’t a challenge, but apparently some less talented drivers tend to screw it up and make it a big deal. 89D, Kelleys Island… and don’t forget Middle Bass and North Bass, both island airports...

    For Sale F-104

You guys calling the yearly inspection a “conditional”, please, for the love of god, stop it. It’s not a conditional inspection, it’s a Condition Inspection.

    Regionals Want 1500-Hour Rule Waived

Ah man, now I'm jealous and I hate you; you're within walking distance of one of my favorite beer joints, Bottlecraft. Good stuff on draft and a gazillion bottles/cans to take home. But, there's a bonus to being an airline pilot AND a beer geek; I get to travel the country in search of good beer!
