    What will happen next?

Happened while I was away. FAA is currently involved. Just had to deal with ordering a 4000 dollar bumper for the landing gear earlier today. Time to buy a new rudder too! Maybe more! Any other things you guys think should break while we're at it?

    GMU 11 Magnetometer Occasionally Failing

We had the strobes off and sadly can't turn off nav lights because having them on is required to keep the ADS-B working. If that turns out to be the case, is it legal to install extra shielding on the cables? I have quite a bit of electromagnetic shielding sleeve at home.

    GMU 11 Magnetometer Occasionally Failing

Just bought the plane, and the seller doesn’t know where it is but says either the wing or the tail which isn’t really helpful. The G5s are up to date and nothing new has been installed. I considered it, but one of the times it happened was very close to my home airport where I know for sure...

    GMU 11 Magnetometer Occasionally Failing

Yeah, that’s what was unclear to me. It could be a three axis fluxgate but it could also be saying that it’s an entirely different type of magnetometer, depending on how you interpret that sentence.

    GMU 11 Magnetometer Occasionally Failing

During a 3 hour cross country, the magnetic heading on both of my dual G5s would occasionally oscillate back and forth a few degrees then completely fail, only to come back a few minutes later. This happened probably 4 times. Does anyone know what the cause could be and if it would be possible...

I know MI means shallow when referring to fog, no idea what SO means.

    Oil pressure decreasing?

Was the oil level normal before you took off? And was this the same oil you were using before?

    Oil pressure decreasing?

Was the oil temperature also increasing?

    Let's Play "CRAZY METARs!"

I actually spend more time flying in Ohio than anywhere else and just bought a plane there. The Toledo approach controllers are very nice.

    Cessna R182 hard landing

No, it didn’t say anything about it in the prebuy.

    Cessna R182 hard landing

That makes sense, maybe it was there to begin with and I never saw it. Another possibility I had considered was during the touchdown the stress on the gear may have briefly deformed the O ring inside the pivot there enough to let a small amount out. It doesn’t explain why it would be so old...

    Cessna R182 hard landing

Well that makes me feel somewhat better. I’d compare the landing to a firm airliner landing.

    Cessna R182 hard landing

Part of the issue is that I really have no idea if I’ve damaged it. I’m just used to hearing about the fragile landing gear on the Cessna retractables and was under the impression that a bounce means it’s broken. It was definitely not a porpoise, and got too slow maybe 3 or 4 feet above the...

    Cessna R182 hard landing

Yes, it was the end of a very long, hot day flying with him nonstop. I’m going to check it tomorrow but I really, really don’t want to fly the plane to check if the gear is bent. Brake should be easier to check.

    Cessna R182 hard landing

Strangely, that spot of fluid is very dark and sticky like old engine oil. The fluid in the reservoir is red like you’d expect. I don’t really have any idea what else it could be, though.

    Cessna R182 hard landing

Just got our new R182 back home today and it was about 100 degrees and extremely humid so I was already having a pretty hard time. We had a somewhat hard landing that bounced once, main gear first on the initial touch and the bounce after. Half of my hours are in a 172RG, and I’ve never had as...
