Eye floaters and FOV (Floater Only Vitrecomy)

Unless a Board certified ophthalmologist thinks you will have loss of vision, have a detachment, a hole or a tear, I would tend to NOT intervene in this sort of situation at age 26!!

    Update on Catalina Baron crash

So the difficutly is the difference between the percieved benefit of completing the mission vs the abstact risk of proceeding. Anybody know what "PAVE" is? I used to think that was bull-____ but it's not. CFI's out there?

That's it I am getting my clearances on the ground

NY departure is like that too, Ahmad. You fly VFR to Allentown if you want to go NOW. You sit on the ground for ~4 hours if you need the IFR clearance. B

How much did poor training contribute to this accident?

Did you see the video ar 4:18? He ran one out of gas as a student solo pilot and damaged a DA 20. That sez something right there, as to the pilot's ability to "PAVE". I hate using that acronym but the FAA is right about this.

It is not. In fact by law the FAA has to respond to a congressional inquiry in 14 days. There can by law be no retaliation nor can the congresscritter be seen to be attempting to influence the outcome.

Deferred Medical Review Time (Alcohol Related)

...he continued to drink in the face of negative consequences. That' the defintion of alcohol dependency, albeit asserted (not substantiated) to be dry and known to be untreated. Time to start substantiating assertions, eh? .....they aren't going to trust the subject of the application, are they?

    ADs, Flight Schools, and Checkrides

No but I remember that one It basically sez, if the POH does not say "approived for flight in known icing condition, the aircraft is NOT approved for flight in known icing conditions". Operators were apparety squeaking by, by citing POH instructions for ice procedures, and saying "well it...

Deferred Medical Review Time (Alcohol Related)

Go find a HIMS AME and get started. do't get the eval just get his adivse and start PEEING IN THE CUP. You can only win by adequlately documenting your sobirety. There is no downside. "Hope, and Change" is not a strategy.

Deferred Medical Review Time (Alcohol Related)

The AME guaranteed you? Are you freaking kidding me? You should be peeing in the cup so you have 6 months negative before you go to the HIMS psychiatrist. 3 documented alcohol events is the automatic defintiion of alcohol dependnecy from part 67. This is going to take some time....and your AME...

Dehydration syncope - Should I fly?

Under most conditions (depends on what the caridologist writes) If you have a adequate and negative stress treadmill echo Cardiol concurs that this was "vasovagal" Normal Echocardiogram Unremarkable 24 hour rhythm monitor, the AMe can issue you. But the drinking might be an issue. If it was...

3rd Class SI post Heart Attack

Kayak Mike, they don't publish everything, of course. The former mandatory 90 day wait is now a medical 90 day wait (you just don't speak bureaucratese!). That's because 90% of the closures of a stent, occur in the first 90 days after the stent. I do have six pilots, who got through the way I...

    Deferred medical

WAIT until the end of the 6th month. If you involve "le congresscritteur" prior you get back "Masssive backlog". "Is in process" . But after the 183 day time, you get something similar back but about two weeks later, unexplained, you get your file looked at. :)

3rd Class SI post Heart Attack

It's not written. It falls into "operational policy". But is is fact. The no part left behind a 70% or greater std has been in place since 1997. The way around this is the "after 3 month" (yes that is still a thing and has NOT been changed) stress needs be supramaximal and got well into stage...
