Swapping wheel pants (newer style) on a Cessna 182

Thanks for the reply. Our s/n is 18261562. I removed the fairings yesterday and have done so before when headed on camping trips. Two of the three have some cracks of various degree. We use the plane and are not afraid to be a bit adventurous. I would rather have a plane with a few nicks...

Swapping wheel pants (newer style) on a Cessna 182

Hi there, After getting new progressive eyeglasses, I managed to smack my shin into the wheel pant of our 1972 Cessna 182P. The plane is equipped with the older style (longer and skinnier) wheel fairings. Well, my shin survived better than the fiberglass and now I am looking at repair options...

Odd request from ATC... "Remain clear of Miramar's Class Delta"

I don't know the boundary between SoCal's turf and when the Miramar tower takes over. I suspect that was the boundary he didn't want to me cross. But, I have no idea where the tower takes over control of the airspace. Next time I'm near a TraCon controller, I'll have to ask them.

Odd request from ATC... "Remain clear of Miramar's Class Delta"

Not too likely. He was pretty clear about Miramar and I suspect my query would have made him correct himself. I suspect he wanted to keep me away from Miramar as he was working some of those guys using "Top Gun" as their call signs. Some folks get special treatment and I ain't one of them...

Odd request from ATC... "Remain clear of Miramar's Class Delta"

We were flying back to our home airport Gillespie Field the other day (KSEE) and were receiving flight following. As we were going from OCN VOR direct to KSEE with a Class Bravo clearance, ATC said, "964AF, Remain clear of Miramar's Class Delta". Well, that's when I got confused. I asked the...

Commercial Aeronautical Experience Question on 61.129

Agreed. I did a pair of 2 hour cross country flights last week. I own the plane and the CFI can use the money.

Cessna 182P Cabin Placard - Day VFR?

Thank you all! With your guidance, I dug around the aircraft documents and feel comfortable that the placard should have been replaced back a couple months after the plane left Wichita. The next W&B change reflects the installation of two nav-comms, comm antenna, sensitive altimeter, CDI...

Cessna 182P Cabin Placard - Day VFR?

Thanks for the speedy response. I think my question remains though. The TCDS (No. 3A13) does not make any reference to IFR operations or equipment requirements. My thought is, with the placard in the plane now, it cannot legally be flown at night or under IFR. So, how can that placard be...

Cessna 182P Cabin Placard - Day VFR?

Hello, I have a Cessna 182P and have been flying it day, night, VFR and IFR. While flying around recently, I gazed upon a placard and thought, "Hmmm. That doesn't look right." I have been looking through the TCDS, the original 8130 application for Airworthiness Cert from 1972, and elsewhere...

Commercial Aeronautical Experience Question on 61.129

Thank you all for your responses, especially #midlifeflyer for the reference to 61.1. While it was not the answer I wanted, I see that trying to negotiate this one with a DPE would end badly for me. Looks like I need to find someplace 2 hours away to stop and have dinner with my CFI before...

Commercial Aeronautical Experience Question on 61.129

Hello all, I am working on a commercial and have a question about 61.129. I have plenty of hours and am making sure I have sufficient training to meet 61.129. Mainly, section (a)(3)(iii) and (iv). I am digging through my old logbooks looking to see what legitimate hours can be used to satisfy...

Fuel Tank Capacity Placards - actual or useable?

Hello, I have a Cessna 182P and a question regarding fuel capacity placards. I am not able to locate the original placard info in the POH. The specifications in the POH show 79 usable and 84 total gallons of fuel. The current placard by the fuel cap shows "Capacity 39 Gallons" and there are...

Accelerated Commerical SEL near San Diego

Understood. The CFIs I have worked with are pretty busy working at airlines nowadays. If they can give a little time, the lessons get spaced out and are subject to last minute scheduling issues. I have a good crew of CFIs for BFRs and such but don't have any who do a lot of full time...

Accelerated Commerical SEL near San Diego

Howdy all, I am looking to knock out my commercial SEL near San Diego. I have the hours/experience needed and written completed. Learning the maneuvers and fill in the gaps before a checkride is what I am seeking. Aside from Sheble, anyone have ideas for an efficient way to get this done? I...

    Hangar wanted in San Diego

Cheap may not apply but try Golden State at Gillespie. They have a large hangar on Marshall Ave which a buddy of mine kept his plane until he could get a t-hangar. I assume it is managed by Golden State Aviation at 619-449-0611 but the name on the hangar says "Golden State Jet". Hope that helps.

    GTX330ES with a "Fail" message

Thanks everyone for the feedback and info. I will post it here in the classifieds first and see what happens. eBay fees have gotten a bit steep.

    GTX330ES with a "Fail" message

I like that option. I hadn't thought about getting it fixed and then putting it back in my plane and selling the one I just bought. I think I paid a decent price for it so selling it again shouldn't cost me too much. I appreciate your thoughts and idea!

    GTX330ES with a "Fail" message

That is what I was thinking initially but not sure if it has much value as is. I will certainly disclose that it is not functioning properly. I don't want any cosmic justice coming back in kick'n me in the behind when it comes to flying. ;)
