    Today's episode of YGTBSM

I wish these types of lawyers would just cease to exist. The guy bringing the suit is clearly a dip****, but the lawyer who was at least clever enough to get through law school (probably online admittedly) actually said "you know what bubba, you've got a real case here!"

Checked off a huuuge bucket list item a few weeks ago...

The security cameras would 100% show me looking around all casually while whistling and then leaning over and caressing it.

    If I had a spare $30k...

Oh yeah I completely understand your reasoning, I was just saying from a visual perspective the g5 is out of place, but they always are.

    MX20 Soft Keys Not Visible

I know I know it's ancient and not very useful but it's in my panel and it drives me nuts that I can't get it to do what I want. I've got a GNS480 coupled to a MX20 display. When doing instrument approaches the MX20 shows track up until approaching a hold then swaps to north up which is super...

    If I had a spare $30k...

How so? I understand the purist "that's not what came from the factory it's garbage" argument but aside from that what's the issue? Nothing wrong with cruising around slowly with a gps IMO. The g5 would definitely look better as another av30 or 275 but otherwise I don't see the problem.

Ad Hoc DME arc on GTN750

I suppose I'm behind :D That was my point though, it's just a VOR approach with a GPS overlay so what's the issue with using GPS as primary?

Ad Hoc DME arc on GTN750

Lots of airforce bases don't have an RNAV, after looking it looks like most of the VOR approach only airports are now "VOR/GPS" which I'm assuming is the same old VOR approach but they have added GPS to the name lol. So color me wrong-ish :D

Ad Hoc DME arc on GTN750

It's because most people are more familiar/comfortable with their GPS than they are VOR. There are still airports that have VOR approaches only, I'd prefer to fly those via the GPS than use the actual VOR personally (as I assume most people would)

Favorite Android apps? - non aviation

Ah the good ole days! Remember when getting a new phone was exciting? Now it's just a burden of having to hope everything transfers correctly.

I use MyRadar extensively. Give a really nice big picture of whats going on around you as well as shows accurate prevailing winds over the whole country.

    If I had a spare $30k...

Appreciate the link, fun article for sure. I would have loved a more in depth photo-essay type article about that trip. All over africa in a 140 in 1951 would be a hell of a trip.

    Commercial written (mild rant)

That's the only way I can see them being able to provide what they do if in fact the FAA doesn't release the questions. They are word for word the same. I'm more inclined to believe that they have some other way of getting the questions that aren't released in bulk to the public but is above...

    Commercial written (mild rant)

I find it hard to believe that there's no source for the actual test bank when Sheppard and others Guarantee that you won't see a question that's not in their material. Granted they could just be saying that and then saying "prove it" when someone complains but that seems a bit risky. "We...

    Post hurricane power questions:

Just get a quiet generator? I've run the absolute snot out of a 3kw HF Quiet generator (2500+ Hours) and it's basically silent and would do everything you need it to. ~$700 last I checked. Solar is great and all, but after a hurricane it's pretty cloudy yeah....

Fly In Camping in the Southeast

I hate myself for admitting it but a fly in sausage festival sounds awesome. Just dont tell anyone I ever used those words in the same sentence please.

Fly In Camping in the Southeast

Where was the old runway? Seems pretty much as "right over the lake" as you can get at the moment haha. I love shooting the RNAV25 approach under the hood and pulling it off a minimums to find myself right over the water on short final.

Fly In Camping in the Southeast

Thanks Bill, 8A1 is a normal quick cross country for me ~70 miles. Love that airport. Have never actually stopped, always touch and go or taxi back. I'll give them a call

For Sale Interesting strategy - Piper Cherokee 180 NOT MINE

I like it. As soon as he has 2 interested parties it should sell (assuming he lets them know there are two), since they will both be sitting around going "**** what if the other guy is willing to buy it a week sooner than me"
