Congrats on getting it up and running. Go ahead and try and get the x axis feed up and running, while you can certainly do it manually, almost everything is easier with powerfeed and you'll get better results. Basically impossible to control feed speed accurately by hand. Feeds and speeds...

I haven't been able to login to download/update my Nav databases for days. Everybody else in the same boat?

You can run into RPM limitations on bigger machines. My thought on lathe is go as big as you can (within reason). The one I have in the shop at the moment is a 14" swing and I'll be damned if everything I want to turn on it isn't 14.1" :D I've never found my 14" too large for even tiny parts...

Been beaten to death already but more input is better right? I started with cheap passive, then nice passive, then mid range ANR and finally now I run Bose A20. Doing it again it would have been half the price to just buy the Bose to start with. I'm a cheap ass, and the thought of 1000 bucks...

That's a deal for 3k. I restored avery similar (but older) hardinge lathe and it's a good piece of equipment. Probably a bit small though.

Is it a short lived condition or will it stay there? First though is a mag issue, EGT will rise if half of your plugs drop out. perhaps one is mistimed?

Why spend 50 bucks on a part when you can spend 8 hours and 100 bucks to make it yourself? :)

Grizzly and Jet both made decent tools for what you want to do. Precision Matthews is about the same with a bit better quality control. I've restored several lathes (hardinge, southbend etc) and miling machines (bridgeport, enco, cincinatti etc) and have bought new machines of both types both...

You don't need a medical for training if you aren't going to solo so keep on keeping on if you feel up to it.

Cruise, decent, climb are the "checklists" that bug me. Yeah I know I need to adjust the throttle, mixture and prop, I'm flying the damn plane I don't need to read that to confirm I did it, it's pretty obvious if it's wrong. IMO once I'm in the air I need one checklist and that's GUMPS.

Complex, high HP, etc are not ratings they are endorsements. Rating would be Aircraft single engine, for which he is rated. As for the CFI part, flying diamonds or cirrus exclusively I imagine.
