    Pre-buy inspection, C210 central Texas

Looking for any 210 owners in central TX that can recommend a knowledgeable shop/A&P for a pre-buy. Efinger was first on my list but he is booked further out than the seller wishes to wait. Any suggestions based on experience would be greatly appreciated.

Zofran due to migraines - special issuance possible?

Hmm.... Zofran itself, an anti-emtetic (anti nausea) drug has no sedative properties like most other more traditional anti emetics. I would think the migraine issue may require an SI but I would not think that Zofran should be an issue. However, I am not King of the FAA so my opinion means...

I have tasted speed, and I like it

I had 184kts once in my 182 with a 43kt tailwind. It was a 100mi flight I made many times before. Man, did I get behind on the descent that day! I had 165-172 kts for about 3hrs coming back to Louisiana from Wisconsin this past August. Sure beat the 132-138 gs on the way up.

T210...Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly

So I think I found the perfect 210 for me. 1979 N model with the Atlantic Aero IO-550P STC with an excellent service record. Needs new avionics but that will come. Offer accepted and I will fly it next weekend. I hope to get John Efinger to do the prebuy and annual if all works out. Thanks for...

Transition from Class III Special Issuance to Basic Med

You did it as needed to be done....fulfill all obligations up to the expiry date of the SI Medical Certificate. The SI authorization is usually many years and gives the AME authorization to re-issue a medical certificate if you have met the criterion outlined in the authorization. That seems...

What now, you ask? Why, start your search for your next 'forever' airplane. ;)

    New PPL

I suggest enrolling in an online IR ground school and start that process in your non-flying free time. You can run through the video presentations and printed information as many times as you like. I used Gold Seal and have lifetime access to the courses for refreshers. I proceeded with my IR...

    Price's Law

A friend of mine said “Service work is like a football game, there are 22 people on the field doing the work and 60,000 people in the stands enjoying their efforts and cheering them on”.

What plane would you buy in my situation?

...and not in a greenhouse for the first few thousand feet. Living in the very deep south, I've learned to appreciate the sun shading that a highwing affords.

    Ipad on Cessna 182

^^^^^ Same here. In my 182. I tried my ipad air and it was close to interfering with the switches on the wheel and obscured my HSI unless I sat forward. Put in a mini 6 and it’s been all gravy now.

What plane would you buy in my situation?

No. I would have been way over my head in the 210 on several levels. First off, I didn’t know enough about aircraft to find the most ideal one for me. You definitely don’t want to buy the ‘wrong’ 210. Just flew an hour to look at a very wrong one that was ideal on paper.

What plane would you buy in my situation?

I would get a 182 or Dakota and finish your IR in your own plane. I did just that with a 182 and now shopping for a 210.

    HIMS SI Medical Review Timeline

Has your HIMS AME made a phone call to OKC to find out what the hold up is? I would start there.

    Age 75+ Insurance

Already happening. I just got quotes for insurance on a non pressurized 210 with hull value of 325K. I’m 61, Basic Med, 340hrs, IR, zero retract time so I expected around 10K the first year…and..Bob’s your uncle, just over 10K from London. However, class 3 medical or higher. I pushed the agent...
